Connor Halliday was heavily scouted by new Washington Redskins GM Scot McCloughan this year. McCloughan attended his private workout, and also had the QB in for an official pre-draft visit. Now, Aaron Wilson from the Baltimore Sun is reporting the he has signed an UDFA deal with the Redskins. Halliday will come into Redskins training camp as a long shot to make the team. Halliday should be healthy after recovering from his season ending leg injury, but will be behind Robert Griffin III, Kirk Cousins, and Colt McCoy on the depth chart. If he is not able to win the 3rd QB spot, he is a candidate for the practice squad. Kirk Cousins and Colt McCoy are in the final year of their contract, and McCloughan and Head Coach Jay Gruden could be looking for someone to stash and develop.
Washington State quarterback Connor Halliday to the Redskins on undrafted free agent deal

Here is what we wrote last month before his visit with the team.
Halliday was at this year's NFL Scouting Combine, but did not participate in any drills or testing. His 2014 season ended when USC's Leonard Williams crashed into his right leg, breaking his fibula and tibia. Due to this injury, Halliday was unable to participate in Washington State's team Pro Day on April 1st.
Halladay held his own private workout last week that was attended by several NFL scouts, including Washington Redskins GM Scot McCloughan. The workout was done on an outside practice field, and included poor conditions like rain, wind, and low temperatures. "Halliday threw 70 passes, completing all but six. All six incomplete passes were drops, yet the receivers also saved Halliday on a couple occasions by catching poorly thrown balls." Halliday is still recovering from his ankle injury, and looks like a late round draft pick or and UDFA in this year's draft.
This story from Halliday's mother came out recently, and talks about his injury, and being a football mom.

STRENGTHS: Good frame for a drop-back passer with plenty of arm strength and while he isn't particularly elusive, he does have decent speed for his size. He typically throws in-breaking routes like slants and posts well, showing zip and good placement. At times shows very good accuracy on both intermediate and deep out-breaking routes, consistently throwing before his receivers turn. Deft touch on verticals down the sideline and when dropping passes over the defenders with their backs turned to him. Highly confident passer who performed well against top competition - including beating All-American cornerback Ifo Ekpre-Olomu for three touchdowns in a surprisingly tight game against Oregon (38-31).
WEAKNESSES: Spread quarterback who took virtually all of snaps out of shotgun, including prior to Leach's arrival at Washington State.... Will have to learn the timing of dropping back from under center as an NFL rookie as he has not yet recovered from the ankle injury and will not be able to participate during athletic testing at the Combine. Must convince NFL doctors there that he is on the road to recovery... Possesses a very lean frame and must develop greater strength to withstand NFL punishment... At times too willing to take chances downfield (22 interceptions in 2013). Can get scatter-shot, especially when he doesn't set his feet. Played in a relatively easy offense that inflated his statistics.
