News of draft picks agreeing to terms with the Redskins started coming in last week, with at least 4 players reportedly ready to sign their deals when they arrived at Redskins Park this week. Now the Redskins have announced that nine of their ten 2015 draft picks have agreed to terms. The only player left to strike a deal with the team is 1st round pick Brandon Scherff. The team's rookie mini-camp begins on Friday, and it is expected that Scherff will be under contract by then. The new CBA has made negotiating rookie deals a much easier process, but certain aspects of the deal like offset language can delay deals for picks in the 1st round. Players can participate in team activities without a deal by signing a participation agreement that protects the player if he is injured, but injuries can happen as everyone saw with Dante Fowler's ACL tear last week. Teams must still negotiate in good faith, but an injury could still have a negative impact on the deal.
In other team news, the Redskins also announced that they have re-signed OT Ty Nsekhe who was waived last week along with 12 other players to make room on the roster for UDFA signings. Cornerback Courtney Bridget, Jr., who injured his shoulder during training camp last year and was placed on IR was also waived.
