Mocking Day 2? Of course we will. Here are a few mocks that have already been posted, and more will be added throughout the day. The focus in the 2nd round is once again on the defensive side of the ball, which seems to be more of a priority now after the Redskins didn't trade down, and went offensive line in the 1st round. The early predictions have the Redskins addressing either the secondary or OLB in the second round. Randy Gregory's name shows up twice here, after spending months as a projection for the Redskins in the first round. A Pair of Redskins fans, Landon Collins and Eli Harold, could have their dream of playing for the Burgundy and Gold tonight. And we even have a QB showing up in the 3rd Round.
Jalen Collins, CB, LSU
I like the idea of Washington grooming Collins and Bashaud Breeland to be their starting cornerbacks for years to come.
Jalen Collins, CB, LSU
The top-rated cornerback remaining on the board gives Jay Gruden's team some secondary strength, after Washington focused on its offensive line with the Brandon Scherff pick at No. 5. With no slam-dunk pass-rushing option (Virginia's Eli Harold?) to pick from near the top of the second round, Collins represents solid value.
Jalen Collins, CB, LSU
Landon Collins, S, Alabama
The Redskins obviously need to make multiple upgrades to their woeful secondary. Help is needed at both corner and safety, so Washington can take the best player available at either position.
3rd: D'Joun Smith, CB, Florida Atlantic
As mentioned, the Redskins have to add to their secondary. They need help at both cornerback and safety.
Landon Collins, S, Alabama
Washington has a chance to address a major hole in the secondary with Collins who can play around the line of scrimmage or deep in a half-field role. He graded negatively against the run only once all season and posted the second-highest grade among safeties against Power-5 teams.
3rd: Zach Vigil, ILB, Utah State
One of the most productive linebackers in FBS a year ago, Vigil also has the athleticism to back it up in the NFL. His 76 stops and 36 pressures were both the second-highest totals in this class.
Landon Collins, SS, Alabama
My first second-round pick that remains unchanged from my original projection, Collins and the Redskins are an ideal match, all the way down to the fact that he has acknowledged being a Redskins fan growing up. Washington has a need for a strong safety to start next to Dashon Goldson, and Collins is the best strong safety in this year's draft.
3rd: Devin Funchess, WR/TE, Michigan
The Redskins should be in the market for a big pass-catcher who can be a red-zone weapon, and Funchess would perfectly fit the bill. Redskins general manager Scot McCloughan has expressed that the team will draft the best players available on the board, but Funchess can be characterized as that in this scenario.
Landon Collins, S, Alabama
2nd: Randy Gregory, OLB, Nebraska
Randy Gregory, OLB, Nebraska
It's difficult to predict exactly where Gregory will land due to his numerous off-the-field issues. Yet, he's still arguably the best pure pass-rusher in this year's class.
The Redskins, however, may be the ideal fit for him as a player and person.
Washington needs help at outside linebacker after losing Brian Orakpo in free agency. Plus, Gregory looks up to current Redskin Ryan Kerrigan. In fact, Gregory originally committed to the Purdue Boilermakers to follow in Kerrigan's footsteps. Now, he can play opposite the talented edge-rusher.
3rd: James Sample, S, Louisville
Safety has been a problem area for the Redskins for a long time. The offseason addition of Dashon Goldson helps, but Sample adds even more depth and versatility to the secondary.
Randy Gregory, OLB, Nebraska
At some point in the second round, Gregory's talent becomes worth the risk and Washington could end up with a steal at this point.
2nd: Eli Harold, OLB, Virginia
3rd: Tre' Jackson, OG, Florida St.
Owamagbe Odighizuwa, DE/OLB, UCLA
After losing Brian Orakpo, the Redskins need edge help on defense. Odighizuwa would provide Joe Barry with both a 4-3 defensive end and a 3-4 outside linebacker.
Odighizuwa (6-3, 266) has a nice skill set of size, speed and athleticism. He recorded 61 tackles with 11.5 tackles for a loss, six sacks and five passes batted in 2014, but was phenomenal in many games and more disruptive than the numbers indicate. Odighizuwa played really well against Washington. He missed the 2013 season with an injury and was a backup in 2012. Odighizuwa had 44 tackles and a sack that year.
3rd: Jaquiski Tartt, S, Samford
The Redskins need some help at safety.
Tartt created some draft buzz with an impressive skill set on display for Samford. The senior totaled 62 tackles with one pass broken up and one interception in 2014. He was solid against Auburn.
Tartt (6-1, 221) has good size but also the speed to cover a lot of ground. He could start out his NFL career as a strong safety but eventually develop into a versatile defender who can play free safety as well. Tartt held his own at the Senior Bowl and showed he could keep up with the higher level of competition.
Owamagbe Odighizuwa, DE/OLB, UCLA
Washington needs an edge-setter with athleticism and "Owa" has been rising up draft boards.
2nd: Eric Kendricks, ILB, UCLA
3rd: Lorenzo Mauldin, OLB, Louisville
2nd: Jordan Phillips, DT, Oklahoma
