Dashon Goldson was expected to be traded or cut this offseason, and the Redskins name kept being mentioned as a possible trade partner due to new GM Scot McCloughan's connection to him(drafted him in the 4th round in 2007).. The teams have finally worked out a deal that will send Goldson(6'2", 200 lbs, 30 years old) to the Redskins along with a 2016 7th round pick. The Redskins are reportedly sending a 6th round pick next year in exchange.
The deal is cheap in terms of draft pick compensation(swapping a 6th for a 7th next year), but the biggest issue will be Goldson's contract. He signed a 5 year, $41.25 million contract with the Buccaneers two years ago and has not lived up to that kind of deal. That, and his play recently, were big reasons why Goldson was being shopped. He has 3 years remaining on the deal, and the Redskins could look to redo that deal. His contract averages over $8 million per year. The terms of the trade have not been disclosed yet, and the Bucs could be responsible for the $4 million in guaranteed money this season. This makes Goldson's cap hit $4 million for the Redskins, and there would be no dead cap money for the final two years of the deal. If there is no restructure, this turns into a 1 year, $4 million contract.
Per source, Bucs will pay the $4 million fully guaranteed under Dashon Goldson's contract for 2015 despite trade to Washington.

Golson started 27 games over the last two seasons in Tampa Bay, recording 153 tackles, 9 passes defended, 1 INT, and 1 forced fumble. He spent the first 6 years of his career with the San Francisco 49ers, and made the Pro Bowl twice(2011, 2012) along with first-term All-Pro(2012).
The Redskins have traded a 2016 sixth-round pick to the Buccaneers for S Dashon Goldson anda a 2016 seventh-round pick.

Now to my new team, the Washington Redskins. I want you all to kno how excited my family and I are to be part of this strong organization. Ive been a fan of the team for awhile. One of my favorite players (Sean Taylor) set the tone for the position for years there. I'm not Sean but Im honored to be patrolling the same playgrounds as he did. I'll do my best on makin him happy from the position as he watches down on us as a secondary. To the fans this is gonna be a fun and exciting ride. Our goal as a team will be simply to whoop ass and take W(wins). Those who dnt know much about me I luv to play this game. I will bring an attitude for sure to this defense. With the experience and knowledge Ive accumulated throughout I will do everything to make those better around me. My goal will be for us to have the same heartbeat as a team and ESP as a defense cuz that's where it starts. With that bein said #HTTR Amen let's all eat.
