Marcus Mariota
Quarterback
Height: 6' 4", Weight: 222 lbs
Oregon
Strengths: Marcus is a quiet leader. His work ethic is fantastic. He ran a 4.52 second 40 yard dash at the Combine, so he's quick. So he's a multi-dimensional. Marcus has tremendous focus downfield, even under pressure. He has a pretty quick release with decent accuracy, even off-balance. When the pocket breaks down, he's as dangerous with his feet as he is with his arm. Mariota has good balance, quick feet, and a strong arm.
Weaknesses: Marcus played with a very simplified offense at Oregon. He hasn't mastered the checkdown. He relies heavily on his first read. He misses a lot of receivers running underneath, even if they are wide open. Marcus likes to escape the pocket rather than move with it. He also needs to improve reading blitzes. He took a lot of unnecessary sacks.
Bottom Line: Marcus Mariota appears to be the anti-Jameis Winston. He's just as talented without all the off the field issues. And how can you not like a guy who loves Subway's Cold Cut Combo?
Projected Round: 1
Team He Fits Best On: Titans, Buccaneers, Eagles
