Washington Redskins Draft Profiles: Donovan Smith, OL

Hogs Haven takes a look at NFL prospects heading into the 2015 draft.

Matthew O'Haren-USA TODAY Sports

Donovan Smith

Offensive Lineman

Height: 6'6"

Weight: 338 lbs.

Penn State

Strengths: Size and quickness.  Smith demonstrates great footwork and competitiveness on the field.  Slides laterally with ease.  Violent hands.  Quick getting up-field in the run game and so huge that defenders have a lot of trouble getting around him... whether he's engaged them or not.  Handles the blitz well.  Great combination of athleticism and size that should give him the versatility to play just about any spot on the OL.  Has great flexibility.

Weaknesses: Needs to work on technique.  Doesn't always handle initial pass rush moves well and needs to work on his arms/hands.  Inconsistent leverage/knee bend due to inconsistent technique.  Gets beat inside too often.  Good punch but allows defenders to get into him too much/easily.  Appears to tire too easily.  Bends at the waist too much.  Vulnerable to secondary pass rush moves.

Bottom Line: An experienced OL with 31 starts at LT for Penn State.  Looks the part and has all the size you could want in an OL with long arms and plenty of weight.  Good against the pass and run.  Just lacks consistency and needs coaching.

Projected Round: 2

Team He Fits Best On: Rams, Chiefs, Panthers
