2015 NFL Draft: Clemson OLB Vic Beasley Will Visit Redskins Next Week

Another top OLB prospect will visit the Redskins next week

Geoff Burke-USA TODAY Sports

Earlier this morning it was reported that former Florida DE/OLB Dante Fowler, Jr. was visiting Redskins Park today.  Now NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports that another top OLB prospect will visit the Redskins next week.  Clemson's Vic Beasley has shot up draft boards over the last two months, and looks like he won't make it to the middle of the 1st round.  He is not a consensus top 10 pick among analysts, but he has had visits or will visit with at least 6 of the Top 10 teams.

The Redskins drafted Trent Murphy in the 2nd round last year, and still have Ryan Kerrigan who is coming off of his best season, but they lost Brian Orakpo in free agency.  If they are planning to pick an edge rusher early, Beasley is one of the 4 at the top of the list.

Beasley has been a fan favorite for the Redskins picks, and for good reason.  Over the last two seasons, Beasley has recorded 59 tackles, 25 sacks, 9 passes defended, 7 forced fumbles and 2 touchdowns.  Beasley impressed at the NFL Combine this year, and has years of tape to back up his showing at the Underwear Olympics. Beasley ranks highly in several advanced metrics including SPARQ(2nd overall) and SackSEER(1st overall).

Projection: 34.1 sacks through Year 5
Scouts, Inc.: No. 25 overall
Similar Historical Prospects: Von Miller, Andre Carter

Beasley gives you almost everything you want in an edge-rusher prospect. He was consistently productive in college, recording 32 sacks and nine passes defensed over a four-year career. Where Beasley really shined was the combine, where he recorded a 4.53-second 40-yard dash, a 41-inch vertical jump, a 12-foot, 10-inch broad jump, and a 6.91-second 3-cone, all of which are well above average.
