In the spirit of March Madness, I'm about to get a little crazy on you all........or am I?
Scotty Mac's goal going into the offseason is to revamp a roster void of talent and depth. The trade-up for Robert Griffin has left the Skins with limited draft picks over the last three years, and it's obvious this has affected both talent and depth on the roster.
Some have surmised that the goal of the draft this coming April is to gain as many picks as possible to fill the void of incompetence left by former coaches/pseudo GM's. If this is the plan of Scotty Mac, then we have to look at the chips he holds to put into the pot.
First of all, a trade-back from pick five is vital(not madness). I have already made cases for three prospects on my big board to select at pick five, and one new comer who I recently championed just this past week, but don't forget - this is my March Madness thought process; which I guess, coming from me, isn't all that surprising anyways!
The Trade-back options:
1)Rams - The Rams may want Mariota, and we may be able to recoup some of those lost picks from the Griffin trade.
- Pick 10, 2015 2nd and 4th, 2016 2nd
2)Saints - the Saints know Brees is nearing the end of his career, and also know Mariota will take at least a season to adapt to the NFL game. What better QB to learn from than Drew.
- Pick 13, 2015 2nd and 3rd, 2016 2nd
3)Browns - In this scenario, the Browns move up for a WR, and still keep the 12th overall pick.
- Pick 19, 2015 2nd and 4th, 2016 1st
Time to move on:
1)Redskins trade Alfred Morris to Raiders for 2015 2nd round pick.
2)Redskins trade Pierre Garcon to Browns for Mitchell Schwartz.
3)Redskins trade Kirk Cousins to Jets for a 3rd round pick.
Let the Maddness begin:
We have chosen to accept trade scenario number 1 from the Rams, partly because I want to get some of the picks we gave to them in the Griffin trade back. We also traded away Morris(let the booooo's begin), Garcon and Cousins, and in return have received a young starting right tackle, and a 2nd and 3rd round pick this year.
Draft -
1st(from Rams): Bud Dupree(Kentucky) OLB
2nd(from Raiders): Marcus Peters(Wash) CB
2nd: Carl Davis(Iowa) DT
2nd(from Rams): Sammie Coates(Auburn) WR
3rd: Tre Jackson(Florida St) G
3rd(from Jets): Eric Rowe(Utah) FS
4th: T.J. Yeldon(Alabama) RB
4th(from Rams): Ben Koyack(Notre Dame) TE
5th: Mike Hull(PSU) ILB
6th: Shaq Mason(GT) C
7th: Damian Swann(Georgia) CB
