Washington Redskins Draft Profiles: Cameron Erving, OL

Hogs Haven takes a look at NFL prospects heading into the 2015 draft.

Cameron Erving

Offensive Lineman

Height: 6'5"

Weight: 313 lbs.

Florida State

Strengths: Versatile and athletic, Erving began his collegiate career at DT before transition to OT with the Seminoles and had extensive PT at LT during his time in Tallahassee.  More recently (the latter half of last season), Erving moved to the C spot and thrived.  He projects primarily as a C at the next level though he should be able to play any position along the OL (though unlikely to line up at LT).  He has an excellent combination of size, athleticism, length, and quickness.  Plays tough and aggressive with strong hands and an especially powerful lower half.  Has great quickness and acceleration when asked to pull and uses his length well at the second level.  Solid kick-step and handles speed off the edge rather well.  Plays with great leverage.

Weaknesses: Technique is not consistent.  Relies too much on athletic ability and needs to refine his game.  Occasional sloppy footwork in pass pro and bends at the waist too often.  Sometimes too aggressive.  Needs coaching.

Bottom Line: Crazy athletic as evidenced by him transitioning from DT to the starting LT immediately and then transitioning again to C.  When you think of Erving, think athletic and versatile.  He should be very good with some coaching.

Projected Round: 1-2

Team He Fits Best On: Titans, Chiefs, Lions, Broncos, Patriots
