There have been rumors about the Redskins interest in cornerback Brandon Browner for the last several days, but no reports of contact between them. Now ESPN's Adam Schefter is reporting that Browner has a visit lined up with the Redskins after he meets with the New Orleans Saints. The Redskins attempted to sign Browner last year, but he decided to join the New England Patriots and win another Super Bowl instead. Browner(6'4", 220 lbs, 30 years old) was suspended for the first 4 games of the 2014 season. His 2014 suspension was originally indefinite, but through appeals it was reduced to the first 4 games. Browner was also suspended in 2012, and 2013 which caused him to miss the Super Bowl that Seattle won against the Denver Broncos.
Browner has a connection to new Redskins GM Scot McCloughan from their time in Seattle. McCloughan was a Senior Personnel Executive in Seattle from 2010-2014. Browner was signed by the Seahawks in 2011 after a stint in the CFL with the Calgary Stampede, and played there for 3 years. The Redskins have a need for depth and potentially starters at the CB position. They also have a visit scheduled with former 49ers CB Perrish Cox scheduled for today. Browner is a physical CB who has a history of excessive penalties to go along with the time missed from suspensions. He is a risky signing that worked out for the Patriots last season, but they also had Darrelle Revis, Devin McCourty and others in the secondary with him.

Redskins fans will remember Browner from the playoff game against the Seattle Seahawks following the 2012 season. In an interview in the week leading up to the game, Browner and Richard Sherman were asked about wide receivers Pierre Garcon and Santana Moss. Browner said Moss was talking in the last game, and he would smack him around in the playoff game.(1:58 mark)
