Must Reads
It's that time of the year again. The NFL resets for the new year, every team is 0-0 again, and hope is back in the hearts and minds of the fanbases of downtrodden teams everywhere. This was the Redskins time to shine in over the last decade plus, and the time when Championships were won. But Championships are supposed to be won in February, not March, and with new GM Scot McCloughan in charge, that mindset is expected to change. Team President Bruce Allen went on the radio today to tell fans what everyone wants to hear, Dan Snyder is not involved in player decisions, Scot McCloughan decides on the players, they will build through the draft, and they don't plan on paying "C" players, "A" player money. We will see.
The Redskins have already made one free agent signing when they signed DE Ricky Jean-Francois last week after he was released by the Indianapolis Colts. They also re-signed and tendered several of their own players. The team is expected to sign Chicago Bears DL Stephen Paea to a 4 year deal when free agency officially starts at 4 pm. The Redskins have been linked to several offensive linemen and safeties during the "legal" tampering period, but no deals have been reported yet. Most people expect a signing or two today, but the team seems to have prices set, and they will let the market sort itself out to find value players. Again, we will see.
Let the games begin!
