Washington Redskins Draft Profiles: Amari Cooper, WR, Alabama

Hogs Haven takes a look at NFL prospects heading into the 2015 draft

Amari Cooper

Wide Receiver

Height: 6' 1", Weight: 210 lbs

Alabama

Strengths: Amari Cooper has a natural feel for the wide receiver position. He broke Julio Jones' freshman records for catches (59), receiving yards (1,000) and single season TD catches (11) during his tenure at Alabama. Cooper's best trait is that he's still learning. He'll keep improving at the next level. He's fast but also has good feel in traffic. He likes being the main target and will work to be the number one option. He's got a second gear to beat defenders deep.

Weaknesses: Cooper does not always run crisp routes. He will freelance a little bit. He needs to improve his run blocking. He will occasionally lose focus and drop balls that should be routine catches.

Bottom Line: Cooper is a special player. He's not the biggest or fastest receiver out there, but his skills make up for that. He is being compared to Marvin Harrison. One analyst said "[W]hat I really like about him, he is a guy who is still hungry, working on his craft. I think he's going to be better as a pro than he was as a collegian".
