Washington Redskins Draft Profiles: DeVante Parker, WR, Louisville

Hogs Haven takes a look at NFL prospects heading into the 2015 draft

DeVante Parker

Wide Receiver

Height: 6' 3", Weight: 209 lbs

Louisville

Strengths: DeVante Parker has the typical build for a successful receiver. He is 6'3" tall and weighs 209 pounds. That means he's got the height and has the potential to get stronger. His Combine numbers were good.

Parker shows good movements off the line and can change gears downfield. His Yards After Catch are impressive, too. He can be deceptive in his routes and can shake defenders with great moves and footwork. He averaged a TD every 4.7 catches for the Cardinals. DeVante finished his career in Louisville with 2,775 receiving yards and 33 receiving touchdowns.

Weaknesses: Parker has the potential to bulk up. But he's not there yet. He will have occasional concentration lapses and catch the ball with his body instead of his hands. He also has a tendency to repeat his moves. He will need to learn to read coverages better. He also likes to push off of defenders. That won't fly at the next level. He also needs to improve his blocking.

Bottom Line: DeVante Parker is another player who needs a little coaching to be able to excel at the next level. None of the weaknesses that have been pointed out are insurmountable. He has a great attitude and should be a great addition at WR for any team needing help there. He was recently asked why he is so effective as a receiver. His answer was, "I'm blessed with the ability to outrun defenders and catch the ball." He also bears a striking resemblance to Dule Hill, and I'm a big fan of Psych. Or maybe it's Bud from the Cosby Show. I've heard it both ways.

Projected Round: 1-2

Team He Fits Best On: Vikings, Browns, 49ers, Raiders
