2015 NFL Combine Results: Wide Receiver Measurements

The Redskins WR corps is short, expensive, and has some openings for next year, will they turn to the draft?

Brian Spurlock-USA TODAY Sports

The Washington Redskins entered last season with a WR corps that looked very good on paper last season. They made Arizona Cardinals WR Andre Roberts a priority free agent signing when free agency opened.  Then the Philadelphia Eagles released DeSean Jackson and the Redskins pounced, not letting him leaving Washington without a contract.  They also had Pierre Garcon who was coming off of a franchise record-setting season, and veteran Santana Moss.  Leonard Hankerson had to be due to breakout eventually, and they also had a speedy Aldrick Robinson, and a rookie named Ryan Grant who won the Mason/Brennan Hype! award for his pre/offseason work.

There are several issues that came up last year, and are still there going forward.  The group, excluding Hankerson who was on the PUP list to start the season, was missing height.  The tallest receivers were Pierre Garcon and Ryan Grant at 6'.  The group is also very expensive which could lead to a contract restructure for Garcon, or possibly a trade.  The top 3 WRs will make over $20 million this year.  The top 3 WRs were the only ones to produce last season, and everyone below them is either a free agent this year, or very inexperienced.

One of McCloughan's weak spots in the draft seems to be at wide receiver, but unless something is done with Garcon's deal, they can't look to FA to replace any player's that leave unless they are very cheap.  Eventually the Redskins will need to begin drafting and developing their own cheap players at WR.  Will McCloughan find some height(and talent) at WR in this year's draft for Jay Gruden's offense?

Here is a full list of the WRs that were weighed and measured at the Combine, and you can see the full list of Combine measurements here. The table is sortable, just click the headers in each column.
