HH's Hump Day NFL Pick'em - Week 15

New, comments

Guess what day it is??? Mike Harar is back with Year 3 of his weekly pick'em contest - with new and improved prizes brought to you by NRG!!

Mike DiNovo-USA TODAY Sports

Welcome, everyone, to Week 15 of the 2015 Hump Day NFL Pick'em!

We are back and excited to continue our work with the good folks at NRG, who provided the excellent prizes last year and will continue to do so this season!

Our Redskins scored a huge road win (their first of the season) last week in Chicago to maintain their first place position in the NFC East!  Unfortunately, the Giants and Eagles won, too, so there is still a 6-7 three-way cluster at the top of the division with three games to go.  The Redskins now must take care of business at home against the Bills this week to stay in the mix, because it doesn't look like New York or Philly are going to go down easy the rest of the year.

In regards to our picks, we entered uncharted territory when we hit a record of 7-3, literally flipping our results from the week before.  Obviously, the pin-the-tail-on-the-donkey approach is the way to go and will continue to be used.

As for our Week 14 prize, the randomly selected contestants were gmoney2577 (again!) and 2R1P_HTTR.  After going head-to-head, the winner was:

2R1P_HTTR - with a record of 6-4!  Congrats to them, and we hope they enjoy their two tickets to the last home game this season at Fed Ex Field!!

Now we move on to Week 15.

As many of you have noticed, we have moved our radio show The District to Tuesday nights.  Please be sure to check out that fine radio program live on WBAD from 7pm - 8pm EST and afterwards as a podcast on  Due to the changes to the The District's schedule, we have had some rule changes to our contest.  Please read below:

This is a weekly contest in which I will make ten game picks each Wednesday and invite you, the loyal Hogs Haven readers, to make your own picks in the comments section.

I will still make my picks each week based on the early lines set in Las Vegas, but instead of picking a winner for every game, I will choose ten games that I feel are the most significant.  The games chosen will always include the nationally televised games, the Redskins games (of course), and then whatever other games I find interesting.   This change is not purely due to my laziness, but laziness did play a large role.

I am not capping the amount of entrants this year, so everyone who comments with their picks after the post goes up (using the games I chose), and enters Rafflecopter will have a chance.

******Note: Going forward, please use your Hogs Haven handle as your first name to make it easier to locate your picks in the comments section.******

Two contestants will be chosen using Rafflecopter.  I will them email them following their selection.

As I mentioned above, I will incorporate the spread as determined by Las Vegas the Tuesday before the games and you can earn 1 point for each correct choice. The contestant with the best score will be the winner.  Ties will be decided, as usual, by our lovely assistant, who will draw a name out of my favorite, dirty, Redskins hat.

The winner will be announced on the next week's episode of the District, as well as on that week's Hump Day Pick'em, and earn a fabulous prize, courtesy of NRG, that will then be mailed to them.  Each week the prize will change, and every week a prize will be given out.

And since this question has come up a lot, I will also point out there is NO limit to the amount of times you can win!

Simple right?!?!

Here are my 10 picks for this week:

Tampa Bay Buccaneers (+2.5) at St. Louis Rams: I don't know about you, but I changed around my Thursday night plans for this game.  Pick: Buccaneers (+2.5)

New York Jets (-3) at Dallas Cowboys: At 4-9, the Cowboys are still not eliminated from the playoff race.  Even Karl Rove has said they should go ahead and concede, though.  Pick: Jets (-3)

Chicago Bears (+5.5) at Minnesota Vikings: I don't think I've ever taken so much pleasure from a Chicago Bears kickers' pain.  Pick: Vikings (-5.5)

Atlanta Falcons (+3.5) at Jacksonville Jaguars: Don't look now, but the Jaguars are only one game out of first place in their division.  Seriously, don't look though.  Pick: Jaguars (-3.5)

Buffalo Bills (-1) at Washington Redskins: It's pretty nice that the Redskins are playing meaningful football in mid-December.  Nice, yet slightly heartburn inducing.  Pick: Redskins (+1)

Arizona Cardinals (-3.5) at Philadelphia Eagles: The Eagles should lose this game.  I hate games the Eagles should lose... Pick: Cardinals (-3.5)

Carolina Panthers (-5) at New York Giants: The Giants should lose this game.  I hate games the Giants should lose...   Pick: Panthers (-5)

Green Bay Packers (-3) at Oakland Raiders: The Raiders are no longer an easy out and have played competitive football this season.  What's the smell?  Oh, it's an upset in the works.  Pick: Raiders (+3)

Denver Broncos (+6.5) at Pittsburgh Steelers: Apparently, Peyton Manning played the role of scout team quarterback this week.  When asked later by the media if he minded, Manning replied, "Get out of my face."  Pick: Broncos (+6.5)

Detroit Lions (+3) at New Orleans Saints: Has a weekend of football ever been bookended by such exciting games?  Pick: Saints (-3)

So there are my Week 15 picks. The winner this week will have this fabulous prize to look forward to, courtesy of NRG:

A helmet signed by 2012 hero Robert Griffin III!!!!!

That's right - a helmet signed by the man who led this franchise to a division championship in 2012!  Who doesn't have space in their Redskins memorabilia room for that????

I will email this week's two contestants, as chosen by Rafflecopter, tomorrow night, and the winner will be announced next Wednesday on the next Hump Day post.

Good luck!!!!
