HH's Hump Day NFL Pick'em - Week 9

Guess what day it is??? Mike Harar is back with Year 3 of his weekly pick'em contest - with new and improved prizes brought to you by NRG!!

Geoff Burke-USA TODAY Sports

Welcome everyone to Week 9 of the 2015 Hump Day NFL Pick'em!

We are back and excited to continue to work with the good folks at NRG, who provided the excellent prizes last year and will continue to do so this season!

NRG

After a one week hiatus, we are excited to bring you another round of fun and prizes.  Last week, instead of doing this post, we teamed with NRG to do a Twitter giveaway for tickets to this year's Redskins-Saints game.  The winner was Twitter follower @tao9087, so congrats to him!  Going two weeks back to our Week 7 picks: (shocker alert) we finished at 5-5.  Again.  There are no words for our regularity anymore.

In regards to the Week 7 prize, the randomly selected contestants were realrandyallen and Johnlow71.  After going head to head with their picks, the winner was:

realrandyallen, who finished with a 4-6 record!!!  Underwhelming yes, but still good enough for the victory.  Congrats to him, and we hope he enjoys his Alfred Morris signed picture!  Now we move on to Week 9.

This is a weekly contest in which I will make ten game picks each Wednesday and invite you, the loyal Hogs Haven readers, to make your own picks in the comments section.

I will still make my picks each week based on the early lines set in Las Vegas, but instead of picking a winner for every game, I will choose ten games that I feel are the most significant.  The games chosen will always include the nationally televised games, the Redskins games (of course), and then whatever other games I find interesting.   This change is not purely due to my laziness, but laziness did play a large role.

I am not capping the amount of entrants this year, so everyone who comments with their picks after the post goes up (using the games I chose), and enters Rafflecopter will have a chance.

******Note: Going forward, please use your Hogs Haven handle as your first name to make it easier to locate your picks in the comments section.******

Two contestants will be chosen using Rafflecopter.  I will announce the two contestants on Thursday night at 7:30pm on our show "The District" found right here on Hogs Haven and streaming live on WBAD radio.

As I mentioned above, I will incorporate the spread as determined by Las Vegas the Tuesday before the games and you can earn 1 point for each correct choice. The contestant with the best score will be the winner.  Ties will be decided, as usual, by our lovely assistant, who will draw a name out of my favorite, dirty, Redskins hat.

The winner will be announced on the next week's Hump Day Pick'em and earn a fabulous prize, courtesy of NRG, that will then be mailed to them.  Each week the prize will change, and every week a prize will be given out.

And since this question has come up a lot, I will also point out there is NO limit to the amount of times you can win!

Simple right?!?!

***Alert: The District is on hiatus this week, so we will contact the contestants by email to let them know they are in the contest.

Here are my 10 picks for this week:

Cleveland Browns (+11) at Cincinnati Bengals: The Browns are a bad football team.  A really, really bad football team.  If you ever feel down about being a Redskins fan, spend five seconds in Cleveland listening to sports talk radio, and you will fell 1000% better.  Thanks, Cleveland!  Pick: Bengals (-11)

Oakland Raiders (+4.5) at Pittsburgh Steelers: Le'Veon Bell suffered a right knee injury in Week 8 and will miss the rest of the season.  I think some Steelers fans may want to make a quick trip to Cleveland, too.  Pick: Steelers (-4.5)

Tennessee Titans (+8) at New Orleans Saints: Drew Brees threw for a league record-tying seven touchdowns last week.  I haven't seen a performance like that since I was young, playing street ball in seventh grade, where I threw for eight touchdowns and rushed for three more.  Better luck next time, Drew.  Pick: Saints (-8)

Washington Redskins (+14) at New England Patriots: Can the Redskins win this week?  Let me answer that question with another question: Does a Sasquatch sleep in the woods?   Pick: Patriots (-14)

Green Bay Packers (-2.5) at Carolina Panthers: The Packers are angry and the Panthers are proud.  My pick for this game comes from the old Mayan saying: "The proud will fall, especially when the proud are playing against Aaron Rodgers."  The Mayans were so wise in their ways.  Pick: Packers (-2.5)

Atlanta Falcons (-7) at San Francisco 49ers: Blaine Gabbert takes over the reins for the 49ers.  So, yeah, Blaine Gabbert. Pick: Falcons (-7)

New York Giants (-2.5) at Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Jameis Winston needs to look at this game as the crab leg that got away. Pick: Buccaneers (+2.5)

Denver Broncos (-4.5) at Indianapolis Colts: Peyton Manning enters into this game one win away from being the winningest quarterback in league history and 283 yards away from throwing for the most yards in league history.  Andrew Luck is pretty cool, too.  Pick: Broncos (-4.5)

Philadelphia Eagles (-2.5) at Dallas Cowboys: To continue the carnage in the Redskins' division, the Cowboys must win.  It feels weird and terrible, I know, but we're thinking long term here.  Pick: Eagles (-2.5)

Chicago Bears (+4) at San Diego Chargers: The Bears and the Chargers are a combined 4-11.  Looks like a great night to catch up on The Walking Dead.  Pick: Chargers (-4)

So there are my Week 9 picks. The winner this week will have this fabulous prize to look forward to, courtesy of NRG:

An autographed Kirk Cousins photo!!!!!

That's right - a picture signed by the beloved starting quarterback of the Washington Redskins!  YOU LIKE THAT?!?!

I will email this week's two contestants, as chosen by Rafflecopter, tomorrow night, and the winner will be announced next Wednesday on the next Hump Day post.

Good luck!!!!
