HH's Hump Day NFL Pick'em - Week 10

Guess what day it is??? Mike Harar is back with Year 3 of his weekly pick'em contest - with new and improved prizes brought to you by NRG!!

David Butler II-USA TODAY Sports

Welcome everyone to Week 10 of the 2015 Hump Day NFL Pick'em!

We are back and excited to continue to work with the good folks at NRG, who provided the excellent prizes last year and will continue to do so this season!

NRG

Well, things got ugly last week, with our Redskins getting decimated and thoroughly destroyed in New England.  We won't spend much time on it, as there is little to be said.  Nor was there much to be said about our Week 9 picks, as we too were decimated and thoroughly destroyed, going 3-7 and getting three sad points.  It was a depressing weekend overall, and more time than we'd like to admit was spent solemnly listening to Adele's new hit song "Hello."  Not necessarily because we like that song, but more because it was on the radio 24-7 and, while we agree it was lame, we were just too indifferent to turn it off.

Anyhoo, moving on to our Week 9 prize!  The randomly selected contestants were heaternet and HailingInVegas.  After going head to head with their picks, the winner was:

HailingInVegas, who finished with a 5-5 record!!!  Congrats to him, and we hope he enjoys his Kirk Cousins signed picture!  Now we move on to Week 10.

This is a weekly contest in which I will make ten game picks each Wednesday and invite you, the loyal Hogs Haven readers, to make your own picks in the comments section.

I will still make my picks each week based on the early lines set in Las Vegas, but instead of picking a winner for every game, I will choose ten games that I feel are the most significant.  The games chosen will always include the nationally televised games, the Redskins games (of course), and then whatever other games I find interesting.   This change is not purely due to my laziness, but laziness did play a large role.

I am not capping the amount of entrants this year, so everyone who comments with their picks after the post goes up (using the games I chose), and enters Rafflecopter will have a chance.

******Note: Going forward, please use your Hogs Haven handle as your first name to make it easier to locate your picks in the comments section.******

Two contestants will be chosen using Rafflecopter.  I will announce the two contestants on Thursday night at 7:30pm on our show "The District" found right here on Hogs Haven and streaming live on WBAD radio.

As I mentioned above, I will incorporate the spread as determined by Las Vegas the Tuesday before the games and you can earn 1 point for each correct choice. The contestant with the best score will be the winner.  Ties will be decided, as usual, by our lovely assistant, who will draw a name out of my favorite, dirty, Redskins hat.

The winner will be announced on the next week's Hump Day Pick'em and earn a fabulous prize, courtesy of NRG, that will then be mailed to them.  Each week the prize will change, and every week a prize will be given out.

And since this question has come up a lot, I will also point out there is NO limit to the amount of times you can win!

Simple right?!?!

Here are my 10 picks for this week:

Buffalo Bills (+2.5) at New York Jets: Rex Ryan makes his triumphant return to New York!  Wait, is it still considered "triumphant" if the Bills don't win?  Maybe I should go with "long awaited."  Pick: Jets (-2.5)

Dallas Cowboys (+1.5) at Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Question: What do you get when you cross a Cowboys' fan with a mime?  Answer A) A 2015 Cowboys fan.  Answer B) A slightly more bearable Cowboys' fan. (Hint: There's no wrong answer.)  Pick: Buccaneers (-1.5)

Chicago Bears (+7.5) at St. Louis Rams: Rams running back Todd Gurley is fourth in the league in rushing yards, which is impressive.  Not only because he is only a rookie, but also because he hasn't had the luxury of playing the Redskins yet.  Pick: Bears (+7.5)

New Orleans Saints (-1) at Washington Redskins: This one is shaping up to be reminiscent of a boxing match in a Rocky movie.  Who cares about defense anymore, anyway?   Pick: Redskins (+1)

Miami Dolphins (+6.5) at Philadelphia Eagles: The Eagles will be going for the vaunted "Jimmy Johnson sweep" this week.  Not Jimmy Johnson, the former head coach of both the Cowboys and Dolphins, but Jimmy Johnson my neighbor, who is a strangely a rabid fan of both the Cowboys and Dolphins.  It's really more of neighborhood thing for us, I guess.  Pick: Eagles (-6.5)

Cleveland Browns (+4.5) at Pittsburgh Steelers: In an unprecedented but understandable move, the Browns have petitioned the league to forgo their remaining games this season to pursue outside interests. Pick: Steelers (-4.5)

Minnesota Vikings (+3) at Oakland Raiders: I've had this strange feeling come over me whenever I've watched Raiders' games so far this year.  I think it's a sense of respect, but don't wish to speculate further without more tests. Pick: Raiders (-3)

Kansas City Chiefs (+6.5) at Denver Broncos: Peyton Manning had a rough one last week.  First, he was unable to break the passing record in his old home stadium at Indianapolis, and then he lost the game to the Colts.  Then, if things couldn't get any worse, the airliner ran out of those pretzel snack bags he loves on the plane ride home.  Pick: Broncos (-6.5)

New England Patriots (-7) at New York Giants: If I had one wish, it would be for me to have $1 million dollars.  If I had two wishes, I'd ask for the $1 million, plus for the Giants to receive a beat-down from the Patriots that far exceeded the one the Redskins suffered.  World peace would definitely be the third wish.  Or maybe just another $1 million.  Pick: Patriots (-7)

Houston Texans (+10.5) at Cincinnati Bengals: The Bengals are firing on all cylinders right now and look like a serious contender.  It just goes to show you, this world we live in can be a crazy and strange place.  Pick: Bengals (-10.5)

So there are my Week 10 picks. The winner this week will have this fabulous prize to look forward to, courtesy of NRG:

A Kirk Cousins Redskins jersey!!!!!

That's right - a jersey of the starting quarterback for your Washington Redskins!

I will email this week's two contestants, as chosen by Rafflecopter, tomorrow night, and the winner will be announced next Wednesday on the next Hump Day post.

Good luck!!!!
