HH's Hump Day NFL Pick'em - Week 6

Guess what day it is??? Mike Harar is back with Year 3 of his weekly pick'em contest - with new and improved prizes brought to you by NRG!!

Geoff Burke-USA TODAY Sports

Welcome everyone to Week 6 of the 2015 Hump Day NFL Pick'em!

We are back and so happy to continue to work with the good folks at NRG, who provided the excellent prizes last year and will continue to do so this season!

NRG

For as happy as we were after the Redskins-Eagles game, we were equally as devastated when Kirk Cousins threw a pick-six to lose in overtime to the Falcons in Week 5.  Throughout the game, which we went into with little-to-no expectations, we assured ourselves we would not be upset with any outcome as long as our Redskins played well and were competitive.  And to quote the great Dr. Seuss from the classic short What Was I Scared Of, "I said and said and said those words.  I said them but I lied them."  The depression from the loss is still lingering a bit, but we choose to move forward!  As for our Week 5 picks, the Hump Day staff and I changed things up a little with our record.  Instead of our normal 5-5, we went 5-4-1 and still finished with a whopping five points.  The mediocrity, which we have begun to master, continues.

In regards to last week's prize, the randomly selected contestants were tao9087 and washingtonwin.  After going head to head with their picks, the winner was:

washingontonwin, who also finished with a 5-4-1 record!!!  Congrats to him, and we hope he enjoys his Redskins-Bucs tickets!  Now we move on to Week 6.

This is a weekly contest in which I will make ten game picks each Wednesday and invite you, the loyal Hogs Haven readers, to make your own picks in the comments section.

I will still make my picks each week based on the early lines set in Las Vegas, but instead of picking a winner for every game, I will choose ten games that I feel are the most significant.  The games chosen will always include the nationally televised games, the Redskins games (of course), and then whatever other games I find interesting.   This change is not purely due to my laziness, but laziness did play a large role.

I am not capping the amount of entrants this year, so everyone who comments with their picks after the post goes up (using the games I chose), and enters Rafflecopter will have a chance.

******Note: Going forward, please use your Hogs Haven handle as your first name to make it easier to locate your picks in the comments section.******

Two contestants will be chosen using Rafflecopter.  I will announce the two contestants on Thursday night at 7:30pm on our show "The District" found right here on Hogs Haven and streaming live on WBAD radio.

As I mentioned above, I will incorporate the spread as determined by Las Vegas the Tuesday before the games and you can earn 1 point for each correct choice. The contestant with the best score will be the winner.  Ties will be decided, as usual, by our lovely assistant, who will draw a name out of my favorite, dirty, Redskins hat.

The winner will be announced on the next week's Hump Day Pick'em and earn a fabulous prize, courtesy of NRG, that will then be mailed to them.  Each week the prize will change, and every week a prize will be given out.

And since this question has come up a lot, I will also point out there is NO limit to the amount of times you can win!

Simple right?!?!

Here are my 10 picks for this week:

Atlanta Falcons (-3.5) at New Orleans Saints: As revenge for the Falcons ripping the hearts out of all Redskins' fans, I have given them the deadly honor of naming them the Hump Day Pick'em Team of Destiny for 2015.  Now we just sit back and watch the carnage ensue (insert evil laugh). Pick: Saints (+3.5)

Cincinnati Bengals (-3.5) at Buffalo Bills: Apparently Tyrod Taylor isn't feeling so great after the beating he's taken recently as quarterback of the Bills.  Backup EJ Manuel, when asked if he would be ready to step in if the needed, stated he wasn't even sure if there was a game this week.  Pick: Bengals (-3.5)

Kansas City Chiefs (+4) at Minnesota Vikings: Things have gone from bad to worse and then worse to worser for the Chiefs with their fifth straight loss and then the loss of Jamaal Charles for the season.  If you don't think "worser" is a word, just watch the Chiefs this week. Pick: Vikings (-4)

Chicago Bears (+3) at Detroit Lions: Lions fans are used to a losing team, but this is starting to get ridiculous.   Pick: Lions (-3)

Washington Redskins (+6) at New York Jets: I would like to introduce the Jets and their run-first philosophy to a little defensive line unit known as CAPITAL PUNISHMENT.  We got this. (Takes sip of Kool-Aid).  Pick: Redskins (+6)

Arizona Cardinals (-3) at Pittsburgh Steelers: Every bone in my body wants me to pick the Cardinals to win this game.  But...I...just...can't. Pick: Steelers (+3)

Carolina Panthers (+7) at Seattle Seahawks: Las Vegas respects Carolina's 4-0 record so much, they have chosen them as seven point underdogs this week in Seattle.  The Panthers will no doubt respond to that lack of respect with anger, followed shortly after by acceptance. Pick: Seahawks (-7)

San Diego Chargers (+10.5) at Green Bay Packers: Aaron Rodgers "struggled" last week, and the Packers only won 24-10.  You just hope the Chargers can get some good sightseeing in while in Green Bay to salvage the trip a little bit.  Pick: Packers (-10.5)

New England Patriots (-7.5) at Indianapolis Colts: The fact that the Colts have won the last two games is only further proof of my long standing theory: Matt Hasselbeck is way better than Andrew Luck.  Pick: Patriots (-7.5)

New York Giants (+4) at Philadelphia Eagles: The Giants are undefeated since their 0-2 start and the Eagles got their groove back last week.  The good news is, one of them will lose this Monday.  Pick: Eagles (-4)

So there are my Week 6 picks. The winner this week will have this fabulous prize to look forward to, courtesy of NRG:

A Pierre Garcon signed mini-helmet!!!!!

That's right - the signed mini-helmet which will be a welcome addition and conversation starter for any man(or woman)-cave!

I will announce this week's two contestants, as chosen by Rafflecopter, on tomorrow night's episode of "The District", and the winner will be announced next Wednesday (hopefully) on the next Hump Day post.

Good luck!!!!
