The Redskins and new Defensive Coordinator Joe Barry have made their first hire since clearing out most of the defensive staff last week. Former New York Giants Defensive Coordinator Perry Fewell had been the Giants DC since 2010.
He broke into the NFL as a DB Coach for the Jacksonville Jaguars from 1998-2002 under current Giants HC Tom Coughlin. When Coughlin's staff was fired after the 2002 season, he moved on to the St. Louis Rams from 2003-2004. He then spent a year with the Chicago Bears as DB Coach. The Buffalo Bills hired him to be their Defensive Coordinator and he had that job from 2006-2009. He took over as the Interim Head Coach when Dick Jauron was fired in November of 2009. He did not keep the HC job however, and missing out on that opportunity allowed him to go back to his former Head Coach Tom Coughlin and join the New York Giants as their Defensive Coordinator.
