The news that not many Redskins fans wanted to hear, the defensive coordinator job is down to two former coaches from Tampa Bay. NFL.com reporter Ian Rapoport is reporting that the Redskins will be done with interviews after they talk with Raheem Morris today. He also indicated that the search will be down to Morris and San Diego Chargers LB coach Joe Barry. Not the most inspiring choices.
Where does this leave Wade Phillips who interviewed for the position last week and was considered an early front runner? The Redskins have also interviewed San Francisco 49ers DBs coach Ed Donatell last week and San Francisco 49ers TE Coach Eric Mangini yesterday. Bruce Allen mentioned that the Redskins were planning on interviewing several more DC candidates after new GM Scot McCloughan's introductory presser. Were Mangini and Morris the only one's he was talking about? John Keim mentioned a possible mystery candidate today, and Rapoport's tweet was far from definite. Will another candidate like Vic Fangio or Jim Schwartz emerge, will Wade Phillips still be able to win the job, or are Joe Barry and Raheem Morris really the best the Redskins could do this year?
When Raheem Morris interviews with #Redskins for their DC job today or tomorrow, that’s the last interview. Sounds like Morris or Joe Barry
