Redskins Week 4: Power Rankings from Around the Web

Taking a look at where the Redskins rank around the web after a hard fought loss to the Philadelphia Eagles.

Eric Hartline-USA TODAY Sports

It will be interesting to see where the "experts" think the Redskins rank after going blow for blow with the Philadelphia Eagles who experts seem to be in love with. The Redskins ranking will largely depend on the "experts" opinion on Kirk Cousins, and the future of the team for the next few weeks with Captain Kirk at the helm. Let's take a look at where the Redskins fall around the web:

12. NumberFire

The Redskins only fell one spot to number 12 after their week three loss.

16. Washington Post (Greenburg)

Kirk Cousins is making people doubt Robert Griffin III’s future with the team, but an injury to Deangelo Hall could cloud their future. Hall made three stops against the run (50 plays) while the rest of Washington’s cornerbacks (David Amerson, Bashaud Breeland and E.J. Biggers) have zero over 91 plays.

19. NFL Vegas Rankings(E$PN IN$IDER)

The Redskins lost 37-34 to the Eagles, but their rating stays the same as they covered as a 4-point road underdog.
Previous rating: 19

22. Covers.com

Redskins are 1-2 despite winning the yardage battle in all three games including by 132 yards last week. 7-1 ATS L8 after scoring 30 or more points.

22. Newsday

The more Kirk Cousins plays, the more unlikely it seems that Robert Griffin III will get his job back when he’s healthy.

22. CBS Sports(Kirwan)

RG3 is out for 6-8 weeks, and a QB controversy is brewing. Kirk Cousins threw for 427 yards in his first start this season and is on the national stage Thursday night vs. the beatable Giants

23. ESPN

The Redskins have dropped seven straight divisional games, the longest active streak in the league. Kirk Cousins looked pretty good, though (30-of-48, 427 yards, three touchdowns, one interception).

23. Fanspeak

The good news is Kirk Cousins continues to prove to be a very capable quarterback, one that should help the Redskins win some football games. Cousins threw for over 400 yards and helped lead the offense to 34 points against the Eagles, unfortunately it still ended up a loss as the defense and special teams gave up 37 points, and both continue to be a serious issue for this team. Also concerning for this team are the amount of injuries that are piling up through just 3 weeks.

25. SBNation

Washington and St. Louis are learning a lot about their backup quarterbacks. Kirk Cousins and Austin Davis have been making strong cases for themselves in relief of injured starters, breathing new life into their respective teams. Both lost this week, but the future look promising enough for both to make things interesting.

26. CBS Sports (Prisco)

The defense really struggled against the Eagles and now must play without DeAngelo Hall, their best corner. At least Kirk Cousins played well.

27. FoxSports

Kirk Cousins went 4-of-6 for 184 yards on deep targets and finished with a ridiculous 427 yards passing despite suffering five dropped passes. His fourth quarter went awry, however, and an interception ended the team’s hopes of winning. Going forward the story for this team may be health as they lost two starters in an already weak secondary to season-ending injury (DeAngelo Hall and Duke Ihenacho).

Average Ranking: 21
