Duke Ihenacho was picked up on waivers from the Denver Broncos after the final cutdowns in August. With safety Brandon Meriweather suspended for the first two games of the regular season, some people expected Ihenacho to see some playing time and possibly take over the strong safety position. That job went to Bacarri Rambo instead, and he allowed a long TD in both of the games he started. Rambo hit the streets as soon as Meriweather was eligible for reistatement. Ihenacho had a total of 4 defensive snaps over those two weeks, and recorded his sole tackle of the season on the last play of the Jaguars game.
In Sunday's game against the Eagles, Ihenacho was used on special teams. He played four snaps there before leaving the game with a foot injury. Now there is a report from ESPN980 that Ihenacho has a fractured heel bone that will keep him out of action for several weeks. The Redskins are getting very thin in the secondary with DeAngelo Hall expected to go on IR for the season.
More bad news for #Redskins : S Duke Ihenacho has a fractured heel bone and will be out several weeks at least, @ESPNRadio980 has learned.
