Washington Redskins Prevail In Gruden Debut 23-6 Over Patriots

The Washington Redskins beat the New England Patriots 23-6 in the preseason opener.

Geoff Burke-USA TODAY Sports

In the first of four glorified practices over the next month, the Washington Redskins shined brighter than the New England Patriots. The scoreboard said 23-6, but that is not how you judge preseason games.

Despite plenty of frontline talent on the bench for the Patriots, the Redskins can still feel good about their performance at FedEx Field on Thursday night. The truth is that this team and its fans needed something to feel good about way more than Tom Brady's squad.

Some players that stood out tonight: Aldrick Robinson and Ryan Grant at WR, Silas Redd and Lache Seastrunk at RB, Ted Bolser with a TD, and Zack Hocker's leg and tackling abilities.
