Football is officially back tonight, and we'll get to see how the backups for the division rival New York Giants are looking. Eli Manning is scheduled to play tonight for at least one series. The Giants replaced their long-time Offensive Coordinator Kevin Gilbride with Green Bay Packers QB Coach Ben McAdoo this offseason, and are expected to move to a quick passing offense. Fixing Eli Manning and the Giants' offense was a big priority this season after their disastrous, turnover filled 2013 campaign. The Bills' newest WR Sammy Watkins has been getting rave reviews on a daily basis from training camp, and will get briefly tested by the Giant's new additions in the secondary, Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie and Walter Thurmond III.
Tonight will also be the first time the NFL will experiment with kicking extra points from the 15 yard line, making it a 33 yard attempt. We will also get to see how flag-happy the referees will get with a reported emphasis on flagging contact after five yards in the secondary. Referees have been officiating training camp practices, and defensive players and coaches have not been pleased with the amount of laundry on the field.
