Brandon Meriweather Suspended for Two Games

Brandon Meriweather will sit the first two games of the regular season for his hit in Saturday's preseason game against the Ravens.

Yep.  You guessed it.  Brandon Meriweather has been suspended for the first two games of the regular season for a helmet-to-helmet hit against the Ravens.  Brandon just can't seem to get this tackling thing right in the eyes of the shield.  He is not allowed at the Redskins facility and cannot have any contact with the Redskins organization from September 1st to September 15th.  He still has three days to appeal the ruling.  This was Meriweather's sixth violation of player safety rules.  He will miss the opener against the Texans and the week two game against the Jaguars.  He will be reinstated the day after the Jags game.

Candidates to start in his place are Bacarri Rambo or Phillip Thomas.  Thomas' health is in question right now as he seeks a second opinion on his foot.  The foot giving him trouble is the same foot that caused him to miss all of last season.  Other safeties currently on the roster are Ryan Clark, Trenton Robinson, Akeem Davis, and Da'Mon Cromartie-Smith.  Safety Ross Madison was waived yesterday.
