Reports came in early this morning from the Washington Post's Mike Jones that Adam Gettis and Bryan Shepherd's lockers were cleaned out and their name plates were removed. Now sources are confirming that the pair have been cut by the Redskins. Gettis is the second 5th round pick from the Mike Shanahan era that Jay Gruden has waived, with 2013's Brandon Jenkins being cut early in training camp. Gettis was a long shot to make the team, as Gruden looks to add size to the offensive line, and Gettis has always been an undersized linemen. There was offseason speculation that he could move to center to increase his value to the team, but there were no reports from camp of Gettis snapping the ball. Multiple other guards were tested at center instead.
Bryan Shepherd was an undrafted free agent CB from North Dakota State who was a camp body and had no real shot to crack the roster. The Redskins CB depth chart has one possible spot in contention with DeAngelo Hall and David Amerson locked in as the starters, Tracy Porter and Bashaud Breeland fighting for the 3rd spot due to Porter's injury issues, and a pssible 5th spot at corner for Chase Minnifield or Richard Crawford.
