Jerry Rice Jr has signed a contract with Redskins per Jerry Rice Jr. The 5'10" 185lb UCLA/UNLV (4.68 40 yard dash) wide receiver went undrafted last year after a limited college career and received mini-camp tryouts with the Baltimore Ravens and his dad's former team, the San Francisco 49ers, this summer. The 49ers offered to let Rice Jr wear his dad's retired No. 80 jersey, but he declined, and wore No. 83 instead during his brief stint there. Rice Jr is a long shot to make an NFL roster this year. In his two years at UCLA and UNLV he only recorded 19 receptions for 142 yards and 0 TDs. He also had 1 TD reception for 13 yards in the Heart of Dallas Bowl with UNLV last season. It was Rice Jrs only time in the end zone during his college career.
There has not been any official word from the Redskins, or any Redskins reporters, so nothing is official yet. The team has a full 90 man roster currently, and they would have to make a corresponding move to open up a roster spot for Rice Jr.
