Washington Redskins 2014 Player Profiles: Blake Sailors, DB

A special teams standout in Athens, Blake Sailors is hoping to continue his improbable run into the NFL.

Michael Chang

Blake Sailors

Defensive Back, possibly transitioned to Wide Receiver

University of Georgia

Undrafted Free Agent

Height: 5' 10 1/2"

Weight: 186 lbs

2014 Outlook:

Blake Sailors presence on the Redskins roster is similar to the reason that he was on the roster in Georgia, special teams. Technically a defensive back, Sailors was a special teams standout with Coach Mark Richt often commenting on Sailor's contributions to that aspect of the game. As anyone with a working pair of eyes will tell you, the Redskins special teams were abominable last year, and Sailors could be either an option to upgrade or push the other players in that aspect of the game. Sailors also ran a time of 4.45 at Georgia's pro day. School numbers can be a bit wonky, but if Sailors is that fast, it would have had put him among the fastest DBs at the combine. Sailors has also mentioned transitioning to WR in order to make it in the NFL

Roster Bubble- Training Camp Player

Personal Information:

Blake Sailors is originally from Athens, Georgia, and walked on to his hometown Bulldogs team. He was the first walk-on ever at Georgia to be named one of the team captains, which he accomplished during his sophomore year.
