Washington Redskins 2014 Player Profile: Doug Worthington, Defensive End

Hogs Haven takes a look at the players on the Redskins roster, and whether or not they will make the team.

Geoff Burke-US PRESSWIRE

Doug Worthington

Defensive End

Ohio State University

2010 Draft 7th Round, 35th Pick

2014 Outlook

Worthington is another player who spent all of last year on the bench due to injury. Primarily a practice squad player, Worthington stepped up after Carriker's injury in 2012 playing in 6 games. He did not make a huge impact, but has made enough of an impression to be re-signed this offseason. Depending on if bigger name d-linemen get cut, Worthington most likely heads back to the practice squad.

Roster Outlook- Training Camp Player

Worthington signed his exclusive rights tender in February for a 1 year deal worth $495,000.  He spent all of the 2013 season on IR after tearing his bicep tendon in the offseason which required surgery.  Worthington will need to have a great training camp to have a chance to make the roster again.  Jason Hatcher's knee injury, along with the age and various other injuries the current starting defensive line is dealing with could bode well for his chances to make the team for depth, but he is still a long shot.
