Third Round draft pick Morgan Moses becomes the last member of the Redskins 2014 draft class to sign his rookie contract this morning. The Offensive Tackle from Virginia signed a 4 year contract worth an estimated $3.16 million. His signing bonus will be approximately $697k and his 2014 salary will be approximately $594k, but official contract details haven't been released yet.
Moses was projected to go as high as the bottom of the first round, but fell to the Redskins at the top of the 3rd. He was drafted to compete with, and eventually replace the incumbent starter at RT for the last few seasons, Tyler Polumbus. The right side of the Redskins Offensive Line has been a problem for the team and for QB Robert Griffin III, and Moses will be groomed to be the long term solution there. Jay Gruden has said that he needs some work, and the team is currently holding their 3rd day of OTA practices today.
"He’s got a ways to go," said Gruden when asked about Morgan during the weekend rookie minicamp. "He’s a right tackle. He’s moving over to right tackle and we’re introducing him to the outside zone the way we want it, the protections the way we want it and it’s going to take him some time, but we’re happy with his progress. He’s got a major, major upside with his size."
