Richard Rodgers
Tight End
Height: 6' 4", Weight: 257 lbs
California
Strengths: Rodgers has good bursts of speed to move past defenders. He's a good receiver with soft hands. In 2013, Richard accumulated 39 receptions for 608 yards and a touchdown. He has a good wingspan and is a decent blocker. He has football in his blood. His father, Richard, Sr., is the special teams coordinator for the Carolina Panthers and has been credited for calling "The Play" and making one of the laterals in the (in)famous Cal/Stanford game.
Weaknesses: He is not the biggest, strongest, or quickest tight end in the draft. His style of play leans more towards finesse and physical. His pass catching has been somewhat inconsistent. He will make an incredible catch only to drop a simple pass. He only started 11 of 37 games in college. Rodgers did not have a good workout at the Combine, which could also affect his draft positioning.
Bottom Line: Rodgers was not utilized enough at Cal. He could be a lot more than he appears.
Projected Round: 6-7
Team He Fits Best On: Redskins, Buccaneers, Falcons
