Jaylen Watkins
Cornerback
Height: 6' 0", Weight: 194 lbs
Florida
Strengths: Watkins is a versatile player. He played cornerback throughout his career until 2013, when he made the switch to safety, due to injuries in Florida's secondary. He's a great athlete, matching up well with the best receivers in the SEC. He's aggressive and likes to hit people. He has a good lateral leap and uses his timing to overcome average height. He is quick, running a 4.41 second 40-yard dash at the Combine.
Weaknesses: Watkins needs to work on his route awareness. He also has very little experience on special teams. He may need to increase his strength. His frame may not be conducive to that, however. He had no turnovers while playing safety. Switching positions also means that his skills at the cornerback position did not improve.
Bottom Line: Jaylen Watkins should be a solid pick at cornerback. He may need to play catch-up due to the position switch in 2013.
Projected Round: 3
Team He Fits Best On: Redskins, Buccaneers, Vikings
