Offensive Guard
Height: 6’5"
Weight: 311
Stanford University
Strengths: Yankey is dominant in the run game, leading a notorious Stanford offensive line for the past couple of years. He is an explosive athlete, strong enough to hold up at the point of attack and quick enough to pull. Yankey plays with a mean streak and when he is on, he throws people around like crash test dummies.
Weaknesses: Yankey’s aggressiveness can sometimes get the better of him, causing him to lunge and lose balance, instead of maintaining good technique. This is most apparent in pass protection, where he can overcommit.
Bottom Line: Yankey is one of the two best interior offensive line prospects in this draft. He is a violent blocker that any team would want.
Projected Round: Late 1st to early 2nd
Team he best fits on: Yankey’s athletic ability would make him an excellent fit in a zone system, and his strength gives him a lot more push than many guys his size. I am dying to see this guy on the Redskins.
