Doug Williams, whom the Redskins recently hired as a personnel executive, is joining the team at the NFL Scouting Combine. Williams began the 2013 season as the head coach of the Grambling State Tigers, giving him valuable familiarity with the players in this year's draft class.
Williams also has experience as an NFL scout, so he will be helping the Redskins evaluate talent by sitting in on all interviews they conduct.
General Manager Bruce Allen had this to say:
Doug, similar to what he did in Tampa, he is going to cross-scout. He's going to be involved in the college personnel and the pro personnel. He's sitting in on all the interviews that we have with players... He has a good grasp of the college players today because coming from Grambling, it really is the same players that are coming out of the SEC. He knows a lot of these guys because back in his recruiting days he knew, 'Oh gosh, I wish I could recruit him.' He'll be very valuable to us in adding his opinion.
