Dee Ford
Defensive End
Height: 6'2" Weight: 240 lbs
Auburn
Strengths: Ford is a resilient player who has great speed and can be a terror off the edge. He can also use that speed and resiliency to position himself well and help contain against the run. He had a fantastic Senior Bowl (2 sacks, 1 batted ball) to cap off his stellar senior season in which he had 10.5 sacks and 14.5 tackles for a loss at Auburn. He is considered to be a good fit for the 3-4 defense in the NFL as he has shown that he is also capable of playing back in coverage when it is asked of him.
Weaknesses: Even though he demonstrates great effort, his size has been a hindrance when it comes to consistently defending against the run. He also is somewhat inexperienced at breaking back into coverage, and will need to focus more on his overall technique in order to be an every down player.
Bottom Line: Ford has a special first move and an excellent motor when rushing the passer and became a player that opposing offenses had to scheme around in his senior season. The team that drafts him will get an immediate shot in the arm in the pass rushing department and potentially a player who could develop into a solid all-around defensive end/outside linebacker.
Projected Round: 1-2
Team He Fits Best On: Eagles, Patriots, Chiefs, Steelers
