Washington Redskins Draft Profiles: Jace Amaro, TE

Hogs Haven takes a look at NFL prospects heading into the 2014 draft

Brett Deering

Jace Amaro

Tight End

Height: 6' 5", Weight: 260 lbs

Texas Tech

Strengths: The 2013 season saw Jace Amaro break the NCAA record for yards receiving by a tight end with 1,352. As a receiver he's fluid and tough to tackle. As a blocker, he's decent, but with a lot of potential.

Weaknesses: Amaro does have some weaknesses. He has some serious personal issues. In 2012, he was arrested with a teammate for felony credit card abuse. He was also ejected from Meineke Car Care Bowl in 2012 for punching an opposing player. On the field, he has been inconsistent in his blocking and in his routes. His 40 yard dash time is also on the slow side, at 4.67 seconds.

Bottom Line: Jace Amaro has all the attributes to be a top pick and a star in the NFL. However his personal issues could be his biggest hurdle in reaching his potential.

Projected round: Late 1- Early 2

Team He Fits Best On: Cardinals, Patriots, or Raiders (based solely on his arrest record)
