Doug Williams Has Returned to the Redskins

The Redskins announced today that Doug Williams will be joining the Allen/Gruden regime in the front office.

Doug Williams has been hired by the Redskins as a Personnel Executive, and will work with Bruce Allen, Scott Campbell, Morocco Brown, and AJ Smith.  Williams has been in talks before to return in some capacity with the Redskins starting in 2010, and has had a diverse career in football since winning Super Bowl XXII and being named MVP.  Williams has experience as a Head Coach, player scout, Personnel Executive, Coordinator of Pro Scouting, and General Manager.  He also has a history with Bruce Allen and Jay Gruden as a part of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers front office.

Doug Williams, the former Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback, has been hired as a college scout by the Jacksonville Jaguars.

''I think Doug adds a lot to our program,'' Jacksonville coach Tom Coughlin said. ''He's a former player with outstanding stature.''

Williams, who has been coaching in the high school ranks, will join the Jaguars after a coaching stint in the World League this spring.

Former NFL quarterback Doug Williams was promoted Tuesday to coordinator of pro scouting for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, who also filled several spots on the staff of new coach Raheem Morris.

Williams, who played with the Bucs from 1978-82 and later won a Super Bowl with the Washington Redskins, had been a personnel executive assisting former general manager Bruce Allen since 2004.
