Report: Redskins Expect DeSean Jackson To Play Today vs Giants

DeSean Jackson could return to the field today after missing last week's game with a leg injury

NFL.Com's Ian Rapoport reported this morning that the Redskins expect to have WR DeSean Jackson available for today's game against the New York Giants.  Jackson missed last week's game against the Rams due to injuries(contusions) to both legs that happened the previous week against the Colts.  Jackson has been limited all week and was only jogging during Wednesday's practice.  By Friday, Head Coach Jay Gruden said he was running around more, but maintained that he had a 50/50 chance of playing this week.  Gruden has stated in the past that if Jackson's not running a 4.3 he's probably not going to play(mostly serious).

Jackson's presence was sorely missed last week against a stout Rams' defense who blanked the Redskins offense.  Colt McCoy turned to last year's go to target, Pierre Garcon, with Jackson out.  But the offense couldn't score and was missing the big play ability and respect from the defense that Jackson provides.  When the Redskins met the Giants earlier this year in Week 4, Jackson played but he was a non-factor in the game.  With Kirk Cousins at QB, Jackson was targeted 4 times, but only had 1 reception for 9 yards in a blowout loss to the Giants.  Since then, Jackson has averaged 4 catches for 91.9 yards(23 ypc) and .5 TDs per game.

Jackson also posted this optimistic message this morning.
