It was reported this morning that WR DeSean Jackson would play today, and now the Redskins have made it official. Jackson missed last week due to leg injuries, and was limited all week in practice, but he is set to return to the lineup today against one of his favorite team's to burn, the New York Giants.
RB Chris Thompson will make his 2014 debut this week for the Redskins. He was re-signed from the practice squad this week with backup RB Roy Helu, Jr. out today due to a toe injury. Silas Redd, Jr. will likely serve as Alfred Morris's primary backup with Chris Thompson possibly seeing some action. Jay Gruden also mentioned that Thompson could be used for kick returns, but Thompson didn't seem to think he would be used there today.
DE Jason Hatcher has been playing with an injured kneed for the past few weeks, and usually sits out Wednesday practice for veteran rest days. This week he did not practice at all, and predictably is inactive today. Kedric Golston returns to the lineup for depth.
Two other starting defenders were ruled out earlier this week by Coach Gruden, and both also missed last week's game vs the Rams. ILB Keenan Robinson is dealing with a knee injury(MCL sprain) and will be replaced again by Will Compton, who will be making his 4th start this year.
SS Brandon Meriweather will miss another game due to his toe injury, and will be replaced by Phillip Thomas again. Thomas struggled last week, and looked confused at times. He is looking to improve his play, along with the rest of the Redskins secondary who have been giving up too many plays to opposing offenses.
