Redskins vs Giants: DeSean Jackson's Injury Gives Him 50/50 Chance to Play; McCoy Will Start; 2 Starters Out

The Redskins and the Giants released their final injury reports for the week.

Cary Edmondson-USA TODAY Sports

The Redskins injury report shrank by one player since the last time we checked in.  Rookie OT Morgan Moses was injured during practice Wednesday(Lisfranc) and is headed to IR and the operating table.

Three other players were ruled out for this week during Jay Gruden's presser today.  On offense Roy Helu, Jr. will be out with a toe injury that he has been getting checked out by a foot specialist. Silas Redd, Jr. will serve as the primary backup, and Chris Thompson was signed from the practice squad this week for depth(and possible kick return duties).

On defense, starting SS Brandon Meriweather(toe) and ILB Keenan Robinson(MCL sprain) will miss another game.  Meriweather has also been seeing a foot specialist this week, and was unable to practice all week.  Phillip Thomas will fill in for Meriweather again, after a rough outing last week vs the Rams.

Keenan Robinson is still recovering from a knee sprain he suffered a few weeks ago.  He was limited in practice for a day last week, but has been held out of practice since then.  Will Compton will get the start for Robinson for the 2nd week in a row.

Five Redskins are listed as questionable with the big names on offense being QB Colt McCoy(things you never thought you would be saying before this season) and WR DeSean Jackson.  Gruden plans on starting McCoy this week and he returned to full practice today, taking all of the 1st team reps.  McCoy will have his neck strain checked out by one more doctor as a precaution, and when he gets fully cleared he will be named the starter  Robert Griffin III will once again be the backup QB this week.

Gruden said DeSean Jackson was 50/50 on Wednesday, and that hasn't changed over the last two days.  Jackson was unable to play last week against the Rams after injuring both of his legs vs the Colts two weeks ago.  Gruden said he was jogging on Wednesday, and today he was running around more.  Jackson will be a game-time decision.

On defense Jason Hatcher has not practiced all week, but coaches are hopeful that he will be able to play this week with his knee injury.

Fellow defensive lineman Chris Baker is also questionable this week.  He practiced fully on Wednesday, but has been limited the last two days.  He is expected to play vs the Giants.

And one more DL is questionable this week.  Kedric Golston is probably the least likely to play this week, even with Hatcher not practicing this week.  He injured his back before a game, and is also dealing with plantar fasciitis. He was limited all week, and should be a game-time decision.

The Giants are once again the healthier team when they face the Redskins.  They have two reserve players out for this game and two linebackers who are listed as probably.  QB Eli Manning made an appearance on the injury report for the first time in a long time with a back injury, but he is a lock to play on Sunday.
