Head Coach Jay Gruden announced during today's presser that rookie OT Morgan Moses was going to be placed on IR, and needed surgery to repair a Lisfranc injury. He did not say what the corresponding roster move would be, but the Redskins just announced that second-year RB Chris Thompson has been signed to the 53-man roster.
Thompson was drafted last year in the 5th round(#154 overall), and was recovering from a torn ACL suffered at Florida State. He started the year as a returner, and over the 4 games he was active returned 8 kickoffs for 160 yards(20.0 ypr) and 7 punts for 36 yards(5.1 ypr). He was placed on injured reserve in November for a torn labrum. He was with the Redskins during the offseason and preseason, but lost the position battle for 3rd RB to undrafted free agent Silas Redd. He has been on the practice squad all season. Second string RB Roy Helu, Jr. has been dealing with a toe injury and his status for Sunday is still up in the air right now. There is also a good chance that Thompson could be used for kick returns this week.
Reporters at today's practice mentioned a mystery lineman that was practicing with the team. That lineman is OT Edawn Coughman(6' 4", 309lbs, 26 years old). Coughman was undrafted from Shaw in 2011 and played for the Toronto Argonauts in the CFL. Coughman has spent time with the Seahawks, Cowboys, Bills, and Bucs during the offseason or on practice squads. He has never appeared in an NFL game.

There's a pretty strong likelihood Chris Thompson will be returning kickoffs on Sunday.
