HH's Hump Day NFL Pick'em - Week 15

Guess what day it is??? Mike Harar continues Year 2 of his weekly pick'em contest - with new and improved prizes!!

Geoff Burke-USA TODAY Sports

Welcome, everybody, to Week 15 of the Hump Day NFL Pick'em, with special prizes brought to you each week by our friends at NRG!

This is the way the season ends.  This is the way the season ends.  Not with a whimper, but with a tremendous thud.  For Redskins fans, following their team's 24-0 loss to the Rams this past weekend, this season cannot be over soon enough.  With all of the ugliness of our team's game, we almost didn't even notice that our own weekly record was ending with a thud as well at 5-11.  Would any of our twenty contestants come close to beating that sad number?  Here were the top 10 performers:

As you can see, we had a three way tie at the top with ten points.  After our lovely assistant drew a name out of my favorite Redskins hat, the winner was:

Congrats to munson21502!!!!!!  Please email me your address as soon as possible and we will get your tickets right out to you.

Well, we did a fantastic job of following up our 4-12 week with a 5-11 week and now sit at 96-110-2.  With our season fading fast and depression firmly in place, we move on to Week 15!

Here we go!

For those of you who are new to our game, I state the rules:

This is a weekly contest in which I will make my game picks each Wednesday and invite you, the loyal Hogs Haven readers, to make your own picks in the comments section.

I will incorporate the spread as determined by Las Vegas the Tuesday before the games and you can earn 1 point for each correct choice.  I will add up the points at the end of each week, and the winner will earn a fabulous prize, courtesy of NRG, that will then be mailed to them.  If there are multiple contestants tied for the lead, there will be a drawing to determine the overall winner.  There will only be twenty contestants, so the first twenty responses will get in.

Each week the prize will change, and this year (unlike last year), a prize will be given out every single week since you are now only competing against each other and not me.  Simple right??

Here are my picks for this week:

Arizona Cardinals (+4.5) at St. Louis Rams: The Rams season of taking down better teams continues.  Of course, last week was a break from that.   Pick: Rams (-4.5)

Oakland Raiders (+10) at Kansas City Chiefs: The Chiefs automatically become the shame of the league if they lose to the Raiders for a second time this season.   Pick: Raiders (+10)

Jacksonville Jaguars (+13.5) at Baltimore Ravens: The Ravens need a victory to keep up with the playoff hunt.  The Jaguars need a Ravens victory to keep their 2015 top three draft pick status.  Pick: Ravens (-13.5)

Pittsburgh Steelers (-2.5) at Atlanta Falcons: If Julio Jones suits up for the Falcons, this could be a competitive game.  If he doesn't, well, "competitive" goes out the window. (P.S. Le'Veon Bell is my hero.)  Pick: Steelers (-2.5)

Houston Texans (+6.5) at Indianapolis Colts: The Texans are just scrappy enough to have Andrew Luck and the Colts beat them only by a gut-wrenching last minute touchdown.  Pick: Colts (-6.5)

Cincinnati Bengals (+1) at Cleveland Browns: HEEEERRRRRREEEE's Johnny!!!  Kyle Shanahan will finally have a chance at a full NFL game with his new toy.  Pick: Browns (-1)

Miami Dolphins (+7.5) at New England Patriots: Going forward, my family and I now watch all Patriots games on mute in case Tom Brady gets any airtime with his sailor mouth.  Pick: Patriots (-7.5)

Tampa Bay Buccaneers (+3) at Carolina Panthers: The Panthers tough season got a lot worse when quarterback Cam Newton was in a car accident this week.  Thankfully, Newton suffered only a back injury from which he is expected to make a full recovery, although he may not be back until next year.  Derek Anderson takes over, and "major downgrade" has been the phrase of the week in Carolina.  Pick: Panthers (-3)

Washington Redskins (+6.5) at New York Giants: We're almost to the most fun part of the year, Redskins fans.  If we can just get past the pesky last three games.   Pick: Redskins (+6.5)

Green Bay Packers (-5) at Buffalo Bills: Nothing ruins a late season playoff push like a house call from the Green Bay Packers. Pick: Packers (-5)

Minnesota Vikings (+8) at Detroit Lions: There's something that just feels off about a Lions squad that is competitive in this league.  Like when it's warm outside in the mid-Atlantic on Christmas day.  Pick: Lions (-8)

New York Jets (-1.5) at Tennessee Titans: As the Rex Ryan era winds to a close in New York, I'm sure Jets fans like to think about the good times Ryan had as head coach of their team.  None come immediately to mind, but I bet there were a few.  Certainly a couple.   Pick: Titans (+1.5)

Denver Broncos (-4) at San Diego Chargers: This has become the week of division leaders playing against second place teams that seem to hang around like gnats at a picnic.  Pick: Broncos (-4)

San Francisco 49ers (+10) at Seattle Seahawks: The 49ers have to feel pretty confident after their big showing, nay, moral victory, against the Raiders last week.    Pick: Seahawks (-10)

Dallas Cowboys (+3.5) at Philadelphia Eagles: Sweet!  Another NFC East game for me to not watch due to bitterness.  So much bitterness.  Pick: Eagles (-3.5)

New Orleans Saints (-3) at Chicago Bears: None of my rowdy friends are coming over for this.  Pick: Bears (+3)

There are my Week 15 picks. The winner this week will have this fabulous prize to look forward to, courtesy of NRG:

That's right- nothing makes everything a little brighter like a free Ryan Kerrigan jersey (and just in time for the holidays)!!!

I will announce this week's winner next Wednesday on the next Hump Day post.

Good luck!!
