Welcome, everybody, to Week 10 of the Hump Day NFL Pick'em, with special prizes brought to you each week by our friends at NRG!
After the Redskins suffered a devastating, deeply saddening, and maddening loss to the Vikings, we knew the only thing that would raise our spirits here at the Hump Day offices, besides raiding our children's Halloween candy and drowning our sorrows in chocolate, would be getting more than our usual eight points in the Pick'em. Normally, this would be nothing more than a pipe dream, but somehow, and through some miracle, we finished with our best week ever, going 9-4 and finishing with nine points. Would any of our twenty contestants come close to that fantabulous number? Here were the top 10 performers:

Congrats to zcurley83!!!!!! Please email me your address as soon as possible and we will get your prize right out to you.
So, our unbelievable 9-4 week has beefed up our overall record to 66-67-1. With a .500 record so close we can already taste it, let us now move on to Week 10!
Here we go!
For those of you who are new to our game, I state the rules:
This is a weekly contest in which I will make my game picks each Wednesday and invite you, the loyal Hogs Haven readers, to make your own picks in the comments section.
I will incorporate the spread as determined by Las Vegas the Tuesday before the games and you can earn 1 point for each correct choice. I will add up the points at the end of each week, and the winner will earn a fabulous prize, courtesy of NRG, that will then be mailed to them. If there are multiple contestants tied for the lead, there will be a drawing to determine the overall winner. There will only be twenty contestants, so the first twenty responses will get in.
Each week the prize will change, and this year (unlike last year), a prize will be given out every single week since you are now only competing against each other and not me. Simple right??
Here are my picks for this week:
Cleveland Browns (+6) at Cincinnati Bengals: This is a huge matchup with too many story lines to count. Instead, let's just ponder why anyone would want to put chili on spaghetti noodles. Pick: Bengals (-6)
Jacksonville Jaguars (+5.5) vs. Dallas Cowboys (in London): I feel bad for all the British kids who will be able to one day tell their children how many Jaguars games they went to when they were young. Pick: Cowboys (-5.5)
Miami Dolphins (+2.5) at Detroit Lions: In the old Transformers cartoons, Megatron would go down at the end of every episode, only to come back angrier the next time and wreck shop again. Also, Bumblebee was a VW Beatle instead of a Camaro and was always getting into precarious situations. Pick: Lions (-2.5)
Kansas City Chiefs (-2) at Buffalo Bills: It's funny to think the two starting quarterbacks in this game were once exciting young rookies who ended up disappointing their original teams. Not funny in a haha way, but like in an uninteresting, boring way. Pick: Bills (+2)
San Francisco 49ers (+4.5) at New Orleans Saints: The sky is falling in San Francisco while life is looking up in New Orleans, even though they both sit at 4-4. It just goes to show you that one man's trash is another man's division leading record. Pick: 49ers (+4.5)
Tennessee Titans (+9.5) at Baltimore Ravens: Normally, 9.5 points would be enough for me to take the road team, but I'll make a special exception here for the Titans and quarterback Zach Mettenberger. Pick: Ravens (-9.5)
Pittsburgh Steelers (-4.5) at New York Jets: Big Ben has been on a bit of a tear lately, having thrown six touchdowns a game the last two weeks for the Steelers. The Jets have been on a little streak of their own(bad things). Pick: Steelers (-4.5)
Atlanta Falcons (-1) at Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Take the Bucs here? Sure, why not. Pick: Buccaneers (+1)
Denver Broncos (-11.5) at Oakland Raiders: Congratulations Raiders! Even though you came through for me last week, you are so bad that even an 11.5 point cushion at home has me picking the other team. That is impressively bad. Like, breaking new ground kind of bad. Pick: Broncos (-11.5)
St. Louis Rams (+7) at Arizona Cardinals: The Rams have made a habit this year of beating teams they aren't supposed to beat; but, I just got buckled up and settled in on the Cardinals bandwagon so I'm not getting off now. Pick: Cardinals (-7)
New York Giants (+9) at Seattle Seahawks: Yes, Giants fans, it does get worse. Pick: Seahawks (-9)
Chicago Bears (+7.5) at Green Bay Packers: Chicago Bears? "The Terror of the Midway." More like Chicago chipmunks, maybe. Pick: Packers (-7.5)
Carolina Panthers (+6) at Philadelphia Eagles: Is there anything more exciting than watching the Panthers get beaten badly on national TV two weeks in a row? Probably. Pick: Eagles (-6)
So there are my Week 10 picks. The winner this week will have this fabulous prize to look forward to, courtesy of NRG:
A Redskins mystery bag!!!
That's right - it's the bag containing untold Redskins goodies that your life has been incomplete without!!!
I will announce this week's winner next Wednesday on the next Hump Day post.
Good luck!!
