The Redskins fell to the Colts 49-27 as Andrew Luck torched the Redskins secondary who failed to see the need to cover tight ends or wide receivers today. They could not take advantage of the 3 first half Colts turnovers, only scoring 3 points on them for the second week in a row.
1st Quarter
The game started off with a Ryan Kerrigan strip-sack on Andrew Luck that was recovered by Jason Hatcher at the 15 yard line. The Redskins could not turn that turnover into a touchdown going three and out and settling for a 25 yard Kai Forbath field goal to make it 3-0 Redskins.
The next Colts drive also ended up with an Andrew Luck turnover as Bashaud Breeland tipped a pass right into Ryan Clark's hands. Chase Minnifield, who is playing for E.J. Biggers was called for pass interference giving the Colts a free first down in this series. The Redskins started at the Colts 45 yard line but once again went three and out. 3 points on 2 turnovers is not a good start.
The Colts started the next drive started at their own 17 yard line and they drove it down to the Redskins 30 yard line. Then they decided that Coby Fleener was not a threat to catch the ball and left him WIDE open for a TD.
We'll just fast-forward through the Redskins offense and the rest of the 1st quarter.
2nd Quarter
Tress Way punts to the Colts end zone to start the 2nd quarter. It takes the Colts 5 plays to reach the endzone. Dan "Boom" Herron scored his first career touchdown on a 49 yard run. Things are starting to get out of hand as the Colts go up 14-3.
Cue Redskins 3 and out!
The Colts get the ball back at their 32 and start to drive down the field. Brandon Meriweather and Keenan Robinson were injured on this drive. The Redskins once again decide that Coby Fleener is not a receiving threat, and Fleener is so shocked he drops the perfect pass that would have resulted in a TD.
Coby Fleener....WTF https://t.co/F9e7zv45Ji

But that doesn't matter because 7 plays later T.Y. Hilton is left wide open in the back of the endzone for a TD. 21-3 Colts.
On the next drive Colt McCoy is intercepted by Greg Toler, but Toler is penalized for holding which wiped out the interception. On the next play Santana Moss gets his first reception of the season! Colt McCoy throws a deep pass to Pierre Garcon on 3rd down that is incomplete. But Vontae Davis is flagged for taunting after the play giving the Redskins the ball at the 11. Alfred Morris runs it in for a TD but a holding penalty by DeSean Jackson takes it back 10 yards. Colt McCoy throws it to Roy Helu, Jr. on the next play and he takes it 21 yards for the TD! Kai Forbath kicks the extra point to make it 21-10.
On the next drive CB Chase Minnifield leaves the game with a concussion and is ruled OUT. Andrew Luck scrambles for a first down. On the next play Boom Herron gets a pass and Perry Riley knocks it out, with Ryan Clark recovering the Redskins 3rd turnover of the 1st half.
Can they turn that into points? Of course not, that was just a stupid question. Colt McCoy takes his 4th sack of the 1st half and the Redskins are forced to punt after a short pass to DeSean Jackson does not get the first down. The highlight of the first half was Tress Way's brilliant acting job on a running into the kicker penalty. Tress Way for MVP as Andrew Luck kneels to end the 1st half.
3rd Quarter
DeSean Jackson is hurt on the 3rd play of the opening drive after completing an 18 yard catch. Colt's DB Mike Adam's rolled into Jackson's knee and he is being checked out with a lower leg contusion on the sidelines. The Colts challenge a 24 yard sideline pass to Andre Roberts and lose. Morris gets a 6 yard run on the next play. Colt McCoy pulls some magic out of his hat and avoids 3 Colts defenders to hit Logan Paulsen for a 16 yard TD! The extra point is good and it's a 17-21 game all of a sudden. Frank Kearse gets a 15 yard unsportsmanlike conduct penalty.
The Colts get the ball at their 44 yard line and 3 plays later Andrew Luck hits a wide open Donte Moncrief for a 48 yard touchdown. David Amerson is having a rough day. Ryan Kerrigan(wrist) and Will Compton(stinger) are ruled questionable to return to the game.

The Redskins get the ball back and get a 1st down on a pass to DeSean Jackson who returned to the game. The Redskins are inches short on 3rd down and Jay Gruden decides to go for it. Colt McCoy is sacked, fumbles the ball, and the ball is returned by the Colts for a TD. Oof!
Trent Williams is having a rough day returning from an MCL sprain and he gets a holding call near the beginning of this drive. Jordan Reed makes a beautiful catch and run for 29 yards. On the next play Colt McCoy bombs it out to DeSean Jackson for a 42 yard touchdown. The Redskins are still down 35-24 with over 5 minutes left in the 3rd Quarter.

The Colts don't take long to answer as Andrew Luck throws a 73 yard TD to Coby Fleener on the 2nd play of the drive. Fleener broke a few tackles and had some key blocks on his way to the end zone. The shootout between McCoy and Luck is on!
Jordan Reed is having a great game back with two catches early in the drive. McCoy goes deep to DeSean Jackson again but it is incomplete. The Colts were flagged for pass interference and Jackson came up injured for the second time in this game. Jackson is helped off the field and is not putting any weight on his right leg, not good. The 28 yard penalty puts the Redskins at the Colts 15 yard line. Jordan Reed takes it to the 1 yard line, but the Redskins can not punch it in. They fail to convert on a pass to Jordan Reed. DeSean Jackson was carted off the field and he has a fibula contusion.
The Redskins force the Colts to go 3 and out deep in their own territory, almost getting to Luck in the endzone. Andre Roberts takes the punt return, and I really wish Jackson was still in the game. Jordan Reed goes over 100 yards receiving with a 30 yard catch and run from McCoy. But two bad throws from McCoy stall the drive. Kai Forbath kicks a 29 yard FG to make it a two score game. 42-27 Colts

The Colts and Andrew Luck gave a giant F U to the Redskins, and three plays later they score on a 79 yard TD pass to Donte Moncrief. Confusion in the secondary again, as David Amerson releases Moncrief and Phillip Thomas can not keep up. Andrew Luck was the play of the week in all fantasy leagues, 5 TDs and counting...
In case they didn't know it now, every offensive coordinator now knows to run two WRs at Amerson, because he gets confused every time.

That coverage bust was on Amerson. All but one blown coverage today has been on Amerson. #Redskins

Next series: 1st play offensive pass interference on Santana Moss, 2nd play McCoy is sacked for the 6th time and fumbles(recovered by Chris Chester), 3rd play delay of game, 4th play short pass to Santana Moss, 5th play punt
The Colts took another 4:20 off the clock and then the game mercifully died a slow death in the last 3 minutes.
