Welcome, everybody, to Week 12 of the Hump Day NFL Pick'em, with special prizes brought to you each week by our friends at NRG!
After one nice and relaxing weekend in Week 10, we were gifted with a gut-wrenching blow to the midsection in Week 11, as we watched our Skins get decimated by the turrrible Buccaneers. On top of that, our successes of the last two weeks vanished and we were relegated to a mere 6-8 week, giving us a total of six points. Would any of our twenty contestants come close to beating that trite number? Here were the top 10 performers:

Congrats to 2R1P_HTTR!!!!!! Please email me your address as soon as possible and we will get your prize right out to you.
So, as I mentioned before, we came crashing down to a 6-8 week and our overall record now sits at 81-79-1. Sitting precariously close to .500 yet happy to still be above the Mason-Dixon line, we move on to Week 12!
Here we go!
For those of you who are new to our game, I state the rules:
This is a weekly contest in which I will make my game picks each Wednesday and invite you, the loyal Hogs Haven readers, to make your own picks in the comments section.
I will incorporate the spread as determined by Las Vegas the Tuesday before the games and you can earn 1 point for each correct choice. I will add up the points at the end of each week, and the winner will earn a fabulous prize, courtesy of NRG, that will then be mailed to them. If there are multiple contestants tied for the lead, there will be a drawing to determine the overall winner. There will only be twenty contestants, so the first twenty responses will get in.
Each week the prize will change, and this year (unlike last year), a prize will be given out every single week since you are now only competing against each other and not me. Simple right??
Here are my picks for this week:
Kansas City Chiefs (-7) at Oakland Raiders: The Raiders have to feel pretty good about keeping their perfect season streak going in this game. Pick: Chiefs (-7)
Cleveland Browns (+3) at Atlanta Falcons: Ironically, the 4-6 Falcons are in first place in their division and the 6-4 Browns are in last place in theirs. Also, I don't think I use the word "ironically" correctly. Pick: Browns (+3)
Tennessee Titans (+11) at Philadelphia Eagles: The Titans are getting 11 in Philadelphia? I'm your huckleberry. Pick: Titans (+11)
Detroit Lions (+7) at New England Patriots: Remember how awesome it was when the Patriots were getting points last week? That was awesome. Pick: Patriots (-7)
Green Bay Packers (-9.5) at Minnesota Vikings: The Vikings are getting 9.5 points at home? Yeah, still Packers. Pick: Packers (-9.5)
Jacksonville Jaguars (+14) at Indianapolis Colts: It's really hard to pick against an NFL team being spotted two touchdowns. Notice I said "NFL team". Pick: Colts (-14)
Cincinnati Bengals (+2) at Houston Texans: So come contract time, is JJ Watt a defensive end or a tight end? Pick: Bengals (+2)
New York Jets (+4.5) at Buffalo Bills: The Jets have eight losses sandwiched between two wins. I don't think even Rex Ryan likes that kind of sandwich. Pick: Jets (+4.5)
Tampa Bay Buccaneers (+5.5) at Chicago Bears: Lovie Smith returns to Chicago and the Bears better watch out. The Redskins are famous for helping teams turn their season around. If this were a text I would include a sad face emoticon after that last sentence. Pick: Bears (-5.5)
Arizona Cardinals (+6.5) at Seattle Seahawks: This is our Hump Day Pick'em Game of the Week! Brought to you by no one. (If any companies would like to sponsor the Hump Day Pick'em Game of the Week, please contact Peggy in the Hump Day offices.) Pick: Cardinals (+6.5)
St. Louis Rams (+4.5) at San Diego Chargers: It's amazing how the Rams have managed to put together a bad record (4-6) despite all the "big boy" teams they've taken down this year. Pick: Chargers (-4.5)
Miami Dolphins (+7) at Denver Broncos: The Broncos have got to be still smarting after getting their butts handed to them by the Rams last week. This game has the feel of a horror movie where you're yelling at the girl to not go in the creepy house because you know what's about to happen. Pick: Broncos (-7)
Washington Redskins (+9) at San Francisco 49ers: Being a fan my whole life, this is the type of game where the Redskins would go into San Francisco and shock the world when everyone's down on them. Or just get destroyed. (Insert another sad face emoticon here, maybe one with the sweat on the brow.) Pick: 49ers (-9)
Dallas Cowboys (-3.5) at New York Giants: I would probably care more about this game if the Redskins were doing better. Through the indifference, however, is still the hope that the Cowboys lose. Pick: Cowboys (-3.5)
Baltimore Ravens (+3.5) at New Orleans Saints: What's going on with the Saints this year? Normally this kind of thing would only happen after I've selected Drew Brees in a fantasy draft. Pick: Ravens (+3.5)
So there are my Week 12 picks. The winner this week will have this fabulous prize to look forward to, courtesy of NRG:
A Redskins prize pack that includes a Redskins bag, hat and sunglasses!!
That's right friends- because even though the season isn't going well, it doesn't mean you don't want the swag!!!
I will announce this week's winner next Wednesday on the next Hump Day post.
Good luck!!
