RGIII's Salute to Service with USAA

Robert Griffin III and Charles Tillman talk Army values and Texas pride.

Copperas Cove, TX is known primarily for being a garrison town. It is home to many soldiers and families stationed at Ft. Hood, including mine back in the early '70's. It's also the hometown of the most famous Army brat in D.C., Robert Griffin III. But he wasn't the first NFL player to come from that town. Charles Tillman was drafted by the Chicago Bears in the 2003 NFL Draft. Griffin and Tillman met during Tillman's rookie season and have remained friends ever since.

Both played multiple sports while attending Copperas Cove High School. Tillman played football and basketball. RGIII, always wanting to one-up Tillman, played football and basketball, but was also a track star. Growing up in a military family can be challenging. It means a lot of traveling and changing schools as parents' duty stations change. But it also means learning discipline, toughness, and self-reliance. In this video from USAA,  RGIII and Charles Tillman talk about Army values and Texas pride. It's a look at their friendship and how being kids of service men and women helped shape their lives and fuel their drive.
