Brian Orakpo Out for the Season

Redskins linebacker Brian Orakpo is finished for the season due to a torn pectoral muscle.

Confirming the Redskins' worst fears about Brian Orakpomultiple sources, including Pro Football Talk, are reporting that the Washington linebacker is out for the year.

Orakpo left Sunday's game against the Titans with a pectoral injury.  The Redskins said yesterday that Orakpo had injured his right pectoral muscle and would have an MRI today to assess the damage.  Orakpo injured his left pectoral in both 2011 and 2012.  Now, it appears that Orakpo will head to the IR list.

Orakpo is signed only through the end of this season, after the team slapped the "franchise" tag on him.  That move meant a one-year, $11.45 million extension to keep Orakpo in Washington.  The expectations that went along with a deal of that size have drawn some heat for the linebacker due to underperformance: He has just 0.5 sacks and 14 solo tackles in 2014.

Needless to say, it's possible - perhaps probable - that we've seen the last of Brian Orakpo in a Redskins uniform.
