Seattle Seahawks vs Washington Redskins: Thursday Injury Report

The Washington Redskins released their first injury report for the week today.

Brad Mills-USA TODAY Sports

The Washington Redskins injury report is slightly smaller this week than it was for the short week leading up to the Giants game last Thursday.  This week we have 14 walking wounded compared to last week's 17, big improvement...

Robert Griffin III is obviously not playing this week, and there hasn't been much of an update on his status since the cast was removed from his ankle.  He was pretty active on Tuesday when he participated in a Play60 event at Ft. Belvoir on Tuesday. Griffin is expected to be out until at least after the Week 10 bye.

Two other players didn't practice today.  Backup safety Trenton Robinson is expected to miss several weeks with a high ankle sprain.

CB Tracy Porter finally played in a game for the Redskins last week, but reportedly suffered a setback with his hamstring injury.  The Tracy Porter signing has gone exactly as expected.

Six players were limited today.  Trent Williams has a noticeable limp, and had a possible dislocated kneecap during the Giants game.  He has said that he could play, and he wants to play, but there is no guarantee he will be able to play by Monday.

Another starting offensive linemen, G Shawn Lauvao, is also dealing with a knee injury.  Both did individual drills today, and Lauvao seemed to be further along in his recovery.  If neither player can go, expect T Tom Compton and G Josh LeRibeus to replace them on Monday.

Both of the Redskins TEs who are actually receiving threats were limited today.  TE Niles Paul is dealing with a concussion that knocked him out during the Giants game.  He is not cleared to play yet, but many people expect him to be available on Monday night.  The extra time the team has this week will help, and Paul had been having a breakout season before last week's injury.

And the reason Paul has been getting that playing time is the hamstring injury that has kept Jordan Reed sidelined since Week 1.  Coach Gruden said the injury was significant, but there was still a chance that he could be ready by Monday.  The Redskins only have one other TE on the roster, and did not sign any this week when they had two open roster spots.  The expectation is that one of the two injured TEs will be able to suit up, but if for some reason both are sidelined, rookie Ted Bolser could be signed from the practice squad to fill in.

Akeem Jordan has been sidelined with a knee injury since the last preseason game, and is starting to practice on a limited basis.

Kedric Golston's groin injury continues to keep him out.

Three other defensive linemen  appear on the list, but they were all full participants in practice today(Baker, Hatcher, Jenkins)

Brian Orakpo's finger will be an issue for the rest of the season as he tries to find a way to play with it using a cast or other methods to immobilize it.

And finally WR DeSean Jackson was a full go today.

The Seahawks have also released their injury report, and just like last week, there are significantly less names on it than the Redskins.  TE Zach Miller had surgery on his ankle over the bye week and has already been ruled out of Monday's game.  Luke Willson and Cooper Helfet are expected to fill in for him.

Marshawn Lynch did not practice today, but it was listed as not injury related.

CB Tharold Simon did not practice due to a knee injury, and is not expected to play Monday.

LB Bruce Irvin was limited in practice today.  He didn't play in Week 3 vs the Broncos and had the bye week to recover from an oblique injury.  Pete Carroll is hoping that Irvin can play this week.
