Welcome everybody to Week 7 of the Hump Day NFL Pick'em, with special prizes brought to you each week by our friends at NRG!
Well, things have not gone as planned for the Redskins so far. The team is obviously struggling and running out of time to turn this season around. While we here at the Hump Day offices watched in horror and dismay as our guys went down in Arizona to drop to 1-5, we held out hope that we would have a good performance in the Pick'em. Astonishingly, we finished with another 8-7 posting, giving us eight points (again). Would any of our twenty contestants join us in respectability? Here were the top 10 performers:

Congrats to 2R1P_HTTR!!!!!! Please email me your address and we will get your tickets right out to you. Hopefully your presence at FedEd Field will bring the team a much needed win!
So with another solid-yet-unspectacular week, we improved our overall record to 41-49-1. Let us now move on to Week 8!
Here we go!
For those of you who are new to our game, I state the rules:
This is a weekly contest in which I will make my game picks each Wednesday and invite you, the loyal Hogs Haven readers, to make your own picks in the comments section.
I will incorporate the spread as determined by Las Vegas the Tuesday before the games and you can earn 1 point for each correct choice. I will add up the points at the end of each week, and the winner will earn a fabulous prize, courtesy of NRG, that will then be mailed to them. If there are multiple contestants tied for the lead, there will be a drawing to determine the overall winner. There will only be twenty contestants, so the first twenty responses will get in.
Each week the prize will change, and this year (unlike last year), a prize will be given out every single week since you are now only competing against each other and not me. Simple right??
Here are my picks for this week:
New York Jets (+9.5) at New England Patriots: If there was ever a week for the Patriots to take that Monday-Friday team vacation to the Bahamas, this seems to be it. Pick: Patriots (-9.5)
Cincinnati Bengals (+3) at Indianapolis Colts: The loss of A.J. Green is certainly compensated for by the three points the Bengals are getting. Pick: Colts (-3)
Tennessee Titans (+5.5) at Washington Redskins: I believe the Redskins can win this game. I believe the Redskins will win this game. I believe... Pick: Redskins (-5.5)
Miami Dolphins (+3.5) at Chicago Bears: It's not fun to be a Dolphins fan right now. On the plus side, CSI: Miami continues to go strong in reruns. Lt. Caine is incorrigible! Pick: Bears (-3.5)
Cleveland Browns (-5) at Jacksonville Jaguars: Sorry, Jim Nantz and Phil Simms, looks like another season of no Jacksonville visits this year. Pick: Browns (-5)
Seattle Seahawks (-6.5) at St. Louis Rams: We have reached the point where a little Seattle dysfunction is extremely pleasing to watch as it unfolds. That said, Fox may want censor the carnage that is about to be unleashed on the Rams. Pick: Seahawks (-6.5)
Carolina Panthers (+7) at Green Bay Packers: The Packers are only 2-2 all-time against the Panthers at Lambeau Field in the regular season. Of course, I'm 0-2 in field goal attempts during fun work events at Soldier Field in Chicago and that doesn't mean anything either. Pick: Packers (-7)
Atlanta Falcons (+7) at Baltimore Ravens: So, is it safe to call Joe Flacco an elite NFL quarterback now? Maybe not, but he's been key in fantasy football if your only other options are RGIII and Andy Dalton. Pick: Ravens (-7)
Minnesota Vikings (+5) at Buffalo Bills: How this game is not on Thursday Night or Monday Night Football, I'll never know. Pick: Vikings (+5)
New Orleans Saints (+3) at Detroit Lions: Big names will be missing on both sides and the Saints have underperformed all season. Still, it's the Lions... Pick: Saints (+3)
Kansas City Chiefs (+4) at San Diego Chargers: Some people think that the Chargers going for a fake punt against the Raiders last week on 4th and 30 was crazy or just plain stupid. Then they remember they were playing the Raiders, which makes it only half-crazy. Pick: Chargers (-4)
New York Giants (+6) at Dallas Cowboys: The Giants have lost Victor Cruz for the season, and the Cowboys seem to be riding high. At this point, one might expect me to make a smart argument as to why I would go against that trend. Pick: Cowboys (-6)
Arizona Cardinals (-3.5) at Oakland Raiders: Good thing there isn't much else going on in Oakland this time of year. Pick: Cardinals (-3.5)
San Francisco 49ers (+6.5) at Denver Broncos: Remember when the Rams played the 49ers tough on Monday night in St. Louis? That now qualifies as walk-in-the-park-ish. Pick: Broncos (-6.5)
Houston Texans (+3.5) at Pittsburgh Steelers: Normally I'd go with the Steelers at home here, but well, J.J. Watt. Pick: Texans (+3.5)
So there are my Week 7 picks. The winner this week will have this fabulous prize to look forward to, courtesy of NRG:
That's right - a football signed by wide receiver/football player extraordinaire/overall great guy Pierre Garcon!!
I will announce this week's winner next Wednesday(or Thursday) on the next Hump Day post. The Hump Day staff and I will be taking some much needed vacation for the next several days and heading out for team building (aka Rum Punches by the pool). We should return by Wednesday, so look for the Pick'em to come out a little later than usual next week.
Good luck and see you on the other side!!!
