Washington Redskins Draft Profile: Brock Vereen, SS, Washington

Hogs Haven Draft profile on strong safety Brock Vereen. Should the Redskins spend a late round pick on the brother of Patriots running back, Shane Vareen?

Gary A. Vasquez-US PRESSWIRE

Brock Vereen

Strong Safety

Height: 6’, Weight: 199 lbs.

Minnesota

Strengths: The younger brother of Patriots runningback, Shane Vereen, Brock Vereen is a versatile defensive back prospect. He has recorded a lot of time at the free safety and nickel cornerback positions. Vereen is a good athlete and has a very high football IQ. Vereen is a high effort player, responds very well to coaching, and has also seen some time on special teams.

Weaknesses: Vareen has a smaller build and his tackling skills are questionable. Vareen is not exactly a ball hawk, only recording 4 interceptions during his time at Minnesota. He also lacks press coverage skills and his fundamentals could use improvement.

Bottom Line: Vereen is more a developmental prospect at this point and it will likely cause him to be drafted in the later rounds. Vereen is a team first player and he responds very well to coaching. He has good leadership traits and a strong work ethic, making him the kind of player every NFL team would like in the later rounds.

Projected round: 6

Team he fits best on: Patriots, Redskins, Broncos, Giants, Cowboys, and Titans
